I started University months after my sister suffered a serious mental breakdown where she was in hospital for a long time.

I met a friend at University who was like a soul mate and after he died in tragic circumstances I failed my second year and went home for 'time out' and got a job at pound stretcher.

I went back to University but had no real friends and was genuinely lonely for the first time in my life.

Back home my friends seemed to be the picture of happiness and their extensive holidays, cars, houses, money in their pockets and time together filled me with envy.

Fast forward from 2001 and I have built a career, family and have the same friends and knew that the hard academic and emotional effort and battles were worth it.

My journey wasn't easy but it built me into a stronger, kinder individual and if you keep the faith and work hard I'm sure you will get your deserved rewards

I'm 32 and have just been rejected from the one uni I wanted to go to- I'm in a dead end relationship and a pretty much dead end job while it seems all my friends are married and have babies/have amazing jobs. So hey it's not all bad haha. Seriously you're so young yet you've got so much in front of you... It might not seem like things are all that great but there's so much time for them to improve :)
