I think that is a case of bank internal policy rather than the actual card scheme rules. I know a bank doesn't have to perform a chargeback but I think it should at least pay heed to the rules the schemes set out, even if they are rather long...
No if a bank provides a Visa card then they have to abide by the Visa regulations. That means they have to action C/b's if the critera is met.
Same for mastercard.
Schemes regs run to far too many pages, but a lot of it is not used, only the main chargeback codes and their requirements.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

Okay, but what I mean is that if a complainant can provide evidence that the date for the last proposed flight before this company went bust, was within the last 120 days, they should still be eligible for a chargeback under both Visa and Mastercard rules.
I shouldn't have said the clock starts from the time the complainant realises there is something wrong. I think it is (or should be) from the time they should reasonably have believed the contract was due to be performed.
Although I think things could get murky where companies don't promise specific dates, but then go bust.0 -
Does anyone know what happens if you've paid by cheque?
Thanks in advance...0 -

The administrators will put you on the creditors list. You will have a chance to get a % back of what you owe somepoint in the future when they've established the state of the company and collected all assets etc. This can be anything from 100% (very, very unlikely) to 0% depending on what reserves and assets the company has.
I honestly wouldn't expect much at all - or anything. I don't think there is any money to use and can't see there will be many assets to liquidate. If there is there is a 'priority' order to who gets first chance and unfortunately unsatisfied customers are pretty much bottom.0 -
I paid by Paypal for a christmas gift, and according to them I have no chance of getting a refund. I have spoken to Paypal (very rude lady) and have filed a dispute with them but they say their 45 day refund policy applies! Does anyone know if there is anything else I can do?0

I'm in the same boat as Blue jan, paid via Paypal in December and they are don't want to hear of it as it's outside of their 45 day policy (very rude paypal staff also).
I paid through a Visa debit with Santander. They were sympathetic but equally said they couldn't do anything other than try and claim it back from paypal, who I suspect would put up a fight against this. Going to try anyway though.
I am within 120 days of purchase but I suspect this is a credit card only thing for claiming a chargeback?
Any advice much appreciated!0 -

Read more about Chargebacks here...
However, you may have a problem because Paypal are involved.
Paypal will argue that they have done exactly what you asked them to do... pass money to GoBallooning.0 -
Thanks wealdroam, I wasn't aware of this rule now applying to debit cards. But you are correct my bank has confirmed Paypal is a problem.
They have however credited my account with the money lost immediately, but subject to them getting it back off Paypal themselves they might yet take it back again...
Lesson learnt, never using a debit card online again, even through a secure service such as Paypal.0
