Buyer not paid or collected

Hi,

I have never sold on ebay before. About 2 weeks ago I sold an item, on the same evening through ebay messages we agreed a date for collection the following Thursday before easter.

Thursday came and went without the buyer collecting. i have messaged several times and not a peep!

What is the best course of action to take?

Thanks

Go to you ebay resolution centre and open a case against the buyer, as a non paying bidder.

I am in exactly the same position with a heavy ceramic bathroom fitting. If I open a NPB wont they just pay and them claim non-delivery? I asked for cash on collection. Would they win a not delivered case?

i had a similar problem about 2 weeks ago , i contacted ebay to aske what i should do , they advised to open a case as it was clearly stated in the ad that it was cash on collection should they pay by paypal i should just refund it and continue with the case.

i emailed the buyer giving them a deadline , they did pay and collect before then.

If they pay by PayPal the case will be closed regardless of what eBay tell you on the phone. So, you are basically forcing the buyer to use PayPal, which is a gamble.

I'd request their contact details and PHONE them - stop all this silly messaging. If they have false details and a number that doesn't work, then report them to Ebay, and they'll cancel the transaction.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    Then what?

Your buyer can't be forced to pay cash and would then be free to walk away leaving you to pay your fees and able to leave feedback .

I can confirm that if your refund the payment should they pay through paypal, you may still win the case, as this also happened to me and I did so successfully.

An open NPB case should close automatically within an hour or so of PayPal being used, if not buyer can appeal and will win .

Relying on any sort of glitch on eBay is not wise, nor is relying on dodgy advice from customer services who do not understand their own rules.

Buyers have a right to pay by PayPal, if that were not the case then none of us sellers would hesitate or worry about listing items as collection only. As it is unless I have a foolproof method of protecting myself against the eBay policy of allowing PayPal on collection I will not sell high end items on eBay that I cannot post.
