Thick limescale in toilet bowl

Causing regular blocks. Best way to deal with it please?

Pumped all water out today and poured in 4L of full-fat Highway cola. Waiting on results.

If anyone has any advice please post.

I'm sure this is not the first post on this subject.

Harpic limescale remover - put the whole bottle down and leave in a dry bowl overnight - worked for me

I'd second the Harpic, it does work. But you could just use vinegar left overnight - this also works well, especially in an empty toilet pan.

yeah this works best... I worked in a place with a very very filthy limescale encased toilet, nothing would shift it except Spirit of salts.... it isn't good to breath it in so be careful when using.

Leave it overnight or longer and you should have a sparkling bog again.

Hydrchloric acid. I think that is the active ingredient of spirit of salts.
Look for it on ebay. You can get it up to 36% strength but if you are the clumsy or careless type get a weaker strength as it is potent stuff.

How do you get a 'dry bowl'? (i.e. stop the bowl from re-filling after a flush)?

Lift the float up in the cistern. Hold it up with a bit of string - put a wooden rod across top of cistern. Tie it up! Then flush loo. Cistern won't refill.
Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY

The cistern won't refill but the bowl will still be full. Empty the bowl with an old jar or similar then a sponge.

Harpic Power Plus Tablets are designed for the job, pop them into the full toilet before you go to bed and wake up to a nice clean toilet.

They often have them in the Pound Shop
