arggh!

Currently with t-mobile, and in late part of my contract with t-mobile so paying £12.50 a month for a voice and text package that meets my needs (never get charged more than the monthly).

I'm looking for a phone with pda facilities (good calender and contacts that will sync with outlook). and less importantly let me send a recieve emails.

I'm completly baffled by the current range of phones (I love tech gadgets but hate mobiles!) so any suggestions for reasonably priced phones. I think I'd prefer to buy one outright as then my contract will stay at £12.50 (will go up if I upgrade phone). Or will I need to change phone package so that I can send and recieve the odd email?

phonewise:

camera not important (I have a DSLR for that!)
web surfing (getting too shortsighted for the small screen)
video capture palyback (not on my wishlist)
full apha keypad (prefered)

cheers

I would search e-bay for XDA's or something like an mda compact if you want a proper pda. Visit the o2 and t-mobile sites to get an idea of what they can do and see if its what you want.

Lots of the phones will do what you want though - have a look at some on the new nokias

I know you want to stick with your contract but if you could be persuaded to change you might want to look at 3's £15 for life tariff and something like the Sony Ericsson K610i which is free

I use a spv c500 to do everything you need, I've had it for 2 years now and although I have upgraded I still use it over my new phone. You can buy a reconditioned one from orange for about £60 or pick them up very cheaply on e-bay

You could also check out this thread, if there are any left it would do everything you want as well

I am looking for something similar - how to get cheapest really portable email and occasional web pages (but with a keyboard). Looking at used Nokia communicators or Web'n'Walk compatible PDAs. This is for about 20 days use per year with some roaming abroad - how to get the best tariff is the real question.

Anyone already doing this & if so, how?

what about a sony ericsson p990i?

or if you want to wait a bit longer, have a look at the SE P1i.

both have wifi, infrared and bluetooth and qwerty kb's and good video (240*320 res)
