    Thanks, everyone.

I've ordered iron-ons for clothes and sticky labels for the tubs, bottles. DH wasn't happy about the sew-ons, because... he always had iron-ons when he was at school! Never mind, he's the one doing ironing in our house so he can do them all :rotfl:

I have sticky labels from easy2name and they are good although we have lost a few in the dishwasher.

At the moment I have labelled shoes with laundry pen (which BTW OP does not come off, it's not supposed to!) but for proper school in September I will be using sew-in ones.

Our surname is too common to just use that and we don't yet have another child so can't do the two initial thing, but I love the idea of putting your phone number on them too.

I used a dymo for lunch boxes and they have lasted since Sept. Laundry pen for clothing as the ink on the labels wears off on shoes. I have used tippex and black pen.

COPYDEX glue is great for sticking fabric labels inside shoes and plimsolls.

DS came home from Nursery, once, in someone else's unnamed shoes. Same style; different size.

But label everything - seriously - and label in an obvious place - waistband for skirts/shorts/trousers; neckband for tops.

Don't forget, it may not be you looking for the name in clothing, so if the label isn't in a normal place, its less likely to be found and returned
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
