Name labels for nursery

They look great, but I've got sensitive skin and I'm sure they'd irritate the heck out of me. Where would you put them on trousers for example...Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -

I use the above, and I put my child's full name on the first line and my mobile number on the 2nd.0 -
A friend of mine lived opposite a park where kids played football. She would often find coats abandoned where they'd been used for goals etc. Some of them would have a phone number on the label and she could reunite them with their owner. This might also be a good idea for sports kit etc that might get left behid some way from home.n You probably wouldn't need this for nursery but might be a good idea when they get olderI need to make a new list for 2014
think of something to put on it!:rotfl:
Try harder for 2014 as I never managed it in 2012 or 20130 -
If ordering labels, and you have more than one child in the family, put one initial at the start, then the surname, then the second childs initial, so it goes X Smith Y, then you can tuck the initial that's not needed under before sewing on. OR just use the surname
I was thinking of this (especially with two kids with a 1year age gap so lots of hand me down potential)... but we've got one of those annoying surname's that's become a first name as well - and sod's law will mean we end up with a child with it as the first name in the same class!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Yes my dad ordered them for my mum's clothes when she had to go into care, they stay on well but they are not comfortable at all. I really wouldn't recommend them.
I ordered sew in labels from eBay and the ones I got came on a long line and you cut them off as you need them, after a few washes a lot of them started to fray even though I had double hemmed them. I had the cheap iron one ones that you write on with a sharpie the year before and these were fine after the full school year, back to iron on for me next time.0 -

It was one of our "rules" when picking a name for our LO - no surnames as a first name. Our surname could also be a first name but luckily it is not very common.0 -
If the label is going to irritate, then try sewing along the hem line of the trouser leg and bottom of shirts, t-shirts etc, so that they are tucked in, also you will know where to look when trying to find your little ones clothes in the pile that is left to sort out at the end of play time.
Been here for a long time and don't often post0 -

At one point I did some supply work in a foundation stage unit that had two teachers... the other teacher I was working with covering for their colleague had the same surname as me, and one of the kids had it for a first name - one blooming confusing afternoon that one was!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Two of my friends just use the surnames - they say it saves time and hassle and also means that there's no issues when they hand things down boy/girl.If ordering labels, and you have more than one child in the family, put one initial at the start, then the surname, then the second childs initial, so it goes X Smith Y, then you can tuck the initial that's not needed under before sewing on.
