Name labels for nursery

My LO starts nursery on Wednesday and I was just told we need to mark all his things with labels.
Can you recommend dishwasher proof labels that I could use on his bottles, food boxes, etc.?
Can you recommend labels to put on his clothes? Are the iron on ones best?
I tried google and it came up with a couple of websites but would rather buy something that has been tried and tested by people on this forum.
Thanks.

Ermmm, how about a permanent pen.0

I have used easy2name, the stick on labels have stayed completely stuck, even in the dishwasher.
I prefer to sew clothes labels, as the iron on ones are difficult/impossible to remove for handing the clothes down, but I suppose you could iron another over the top. I'm sure ironing is quicker though.0 -
I have always used a laundry pen and a permanent marker, its much cheaper and much quicker too if you have lots to mark.
If it fades you can do it again easily too.

I have got the clothes ones (to iron in) and ones for lunchbags etc that just stick on.
I havent had any problems with them, my son loves them as they have his name on and a little robot logo, they had many logos to choose from.
I cant remember how much I paid but it wasnt a lot for the amount I got.
I would highly recommend this company.0 -

^I second this! The sticky labels are great - use them for tupperware, shoes, anything really. Also endorse using sew-on name tapes rather than iron-on ones.
The easy2name website is here: http://www.easy2name.com/0 -
I just write on the washing labels of clothes, just check them regularly to ensure its still there.
With food boxes etc, I buy the ones with their names on.0 -
As you are needing them soon I would say like other posters a laundry pen or a sharpie marker pen in the short term and write on the care label of the clothes. I've used 'able labels' in the past for name tapes and shoe labels, I think they do ones for packed lunch boxes as well. If you have a school uniform shop nearby they might sell labels you can write on or some of the big department stores like M&S might have them in their schoolwear section of the kids department. I always buy sew on labels, just my personal preference. One pack of them will last you years through school as well.0

Thanks, everyone.
Does laundry marker come off easily? I think I might use it on the labels to save time for now but will probably sew on labels eventually.
I'll have a look at the websites you recommended and order some sticky labels today.
Permanent marker is a no for me - I am a bit OCD when it comes to my belongings and don't want them marked in any permanent way.0 -
If ordering labels, and you have more than one child in the family, put one initial at the start, then the surname, then the second childs initial, so it goes X Smith Y, then you can tuck the initial that's not needed under before sewing on. OR just use the surnamePlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

best piece of advice ever! It would've saved me so much time, heartache, injury and expense (and yes I do have to be that dramatic about sewing
