Farting in a small office

Hi all
Just wanted to get your thoughts on a small "smelly" issue I have at work :rotfl:
I work in a small office where there is 4 women and up to 25 men in any one day.
Now whilst I fully appreciate that everyone farts, there are some men in our office who make a "big issue" out of their farts and, well to be honest they honk. And I mean really sick to your stomach, OMG what did you eat for lunch farts
The smell can be overpowering sometimes and I want to go and buy an air freshner to put on my desk i.e. a round pretty crystal one but our MD is against all "smellies" in our office (maybe I should have suggested they kick the men out and sit them outside :rotfl:)
Do you think that if I bought a non-spray air freshner and put it descreetly in a corner of the office it would be ok? Does anyone else experience this in your office?
Cheers Cookiee x

I would personally make wretching sounds and tell them it's disgusting!! Their cr*p particles are going up your nose!! I have an office right next to the mens toilet and if a bloke goes for a no.2 it reeeeeeks out where I work. I made enough of a big deal about it and they now shut the door after going! I would personally point out that the office smells of cr*p and you keep having to go for fresh air as it turns your stomach.
When they clock that you're having to walk away from your desk because you'll be sick, they'll soon change their 'air freshner' approach!0 -
Gosh - I think you need the services of a proper employment lawyer for this one. It's far too risky to even consider advising your next step. Good luck.Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0

Is your MD against smelly farts that make their staff feel queasy enough to down tools, go outside for fifteen minutes paid break? Does he object to antiperspirant too?
Do you have a staff refrigerator? Buy some freeze dried acidophilus capsules and double dose the festering fellas daily after lunch (store in the fridge, take with or after food).Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
ha hilarious!! this did make me smile. Why the hell would MD be against having a small scented thing on your desk? I think get one anyway and hide it somewhere only you can smell it. Or a small cheap bottle of perfume spray once under the desk so just you can smell. what industry are you in where the m/f ratio is so out of whack?0

I agree. This needs someone who knows her stuff, who can tell it as it is and who can see it from a feminine perspective. Drat, I have lost the link.Funky_Bold_Ribena wrote: »Gosh - I think you need the services of a proper employment lawyer for this one. It's far too risky to even consider advising your next step. Good luck. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -

Have a word in a jokey manner to the office manager if you have one or HR and no if they joke about it just get out the air freshener and spray it so they all can see it
OR ask HR/office manager for one then they will ask what you want it for.
We have to get one due to the damp in the office and the heat which was making the smells worseWe’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Possibly because they are revolting? Horrible floral/ chemical wafts all day every day just in case someone farts. To me the only nice ones are natural vanilla/ cinnamon and even that I wouldn't want to smell all day. It's a small office apparently, not a massive open plan thing where you can't smell what is on the next desk.
Also some people are allergic or at higher risk of asthma attacks from chemical fragrances. Can't see why the OP can't have an unscented odour eliminator spray for occasional use tho.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Fight fire with fire. Binge on bombay mix and doritos and falafel and deliver your own riposte.0

Hahaha thank you for making laugh. It reminds me of that South Park episode of 'queefing'.
Regarding the problem, I would put in one of those plug in freshners, subtle but to the point.'I solemnly swear that I am up to no good'0
