Nexus 7

Besides, you can buy the perfectly good 16gb version for £159.
Of course you can, but why should I pay another £110 for something that`s not going to do anymore (for my needs) than the one I`ve got.
They are 7" screens that are only any good for keeping up with things while on the move.(portability)
Anyone who says a 7" is all they need full stop are kidding themselves.0 -
One of the main things i would say against the nexus is the cost of screen replacement its over £100 so if you break it it its ebay time . Granted the graphics are great but the speakers no so much0

Thanks especially to 2010 and all others for their thoughts and advice.
I have now ordered the Versus 7in Touch Tab 8GB Wifi Android 4 as 2010 suggested.
I have discovered that Wetherspoons, Costa and McDonalds do free wifi so if we have any problems on our camping sites we could pop along to one of them. Wetherspoons especially is one of our haunts.
Thanks again.0 -

Givememoney,
This link is from the original deal for the Versus7 on HotUKdeals.
It`s well worth a read through the whole thread as you will pick up some good tips regarding the tablet.
It`s about 600 posts long, some of which can be skipped through but some good tips to be found as well.

Fair enough if you've got 2010 who has tested this tablet well and it seems to not be tripped up by some stuff that cheapo tablets usually are. You just have to be careful with the cheap tablets as some of them are rubbish - and are the useless gimmicks discussed above.0

I now have my Versus 7in Touch Tab thanks 2010, it certainly looks the part.
Compared to my PC getting going is very quick. The screen is very bright and I have managed to get my head round it already (only got it yesterday) so if can, so can others.
It looks just the thing for us. I have downloaded a couple of free apps after saying I wasn't interested in any, but nevertheless it is for surfing the net and reading my emails when away from home.
Only time will tell of course how it performs in months to come.0 -
Givememoney,
The first thing to do is to go to the apps store and download and install AVG anti-virus.
It does the scanning automatically so no hassle with it.
Another useful app is "tvcatchup" which gives you all the tv programs (freeview etc.)
The programs are actually live so not sure why they call it catchup!
One hitch that has been noted is after you watch a tv program and come out of the app, the next time you go to connect, it keeps asking you to "retry" the connection.
To overcome this, go to settings - apps -scroll down to tvcatchup and click "clear data" and this will get you connected back up again.0 -
Do you even need anti virus for tablets ?0

Do you even need anti virus for tablets ?
I`ve read various articles for and against.
I won`t post links, you can Google them yourself.
AVG obviously thinks you do and hence the app.
It`s free and works automatically so it won`t hurt to be cautious.
When you download any apps, it scans them automatically.0 -
What phone DO you have? I don't have a "smart" phone as such (Nokia C2-01), but I can enable Bluetooth and use that as a data modem. (I have tried this with my Ipod - not tried it as yet with the Nexus).
Yes I have discovered I do have Blue Tooth. This is a total mystery to me, I have never used it and don't know how to attach it to my new tablet, perhaps you can guide me.
I also have Blue Tooth on the Sat Nav, but again don't know what I am doing there either.
Also how do you pay for this, does just come off your home broadband bill?
Thanks0
