Quiet aware she'l get child tax ..kay was saying op have earn un der 5000 k 2 get tax credit not child tax credit u dont
I never mentioned child tax credits or working tax credits just said tax credits, either way its tax credits. You obvouisly mis read my post and jumped to your guns.
I did make the mistake of saying she would get £725 if she was earning under 5k but I didnt look at the rest of the table as its all I was interested in...it does show she would still get £725 for up to 15k but even then, I was talking about her situation.
Your posts are still unhelpful though and not needed. I am only trying to help the OP and my advice was right for her situation.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
errr I think I said I'm not claiming all the benefits that I am entitled to?? As I too find the maintenance plus benefits thing a bit odd!0

Come on!£725 a month Tax Credits??? I certainly don't get that. Should I be? I have written to the tax credit people (as I cannot get through on the phone) saying that I've stopped work....
Sounds more like you are trying to get all you can.
Anyway, better stick to advice: Good luck with your studies, and just be grateful for what you get in maintenance that allows you to get on with these studies. Maybe one day he will lose his job but you will then earn a decent amount and support your kids fully, although having been there, you might find yourself that even working full-time on the salary of a social worker, you be much worse off than you are now.0 -

My kids have had a bleak 6 years. I think they deserve a break.
This is just an observation - not a criticism.
I've mentioned this before but I don't get this his / her money thing, especially when the couple concerned are married and have children together. I may be extremely old fashioned in that sense though.
I do have one question though would you have been so my money / his debts if everything was still smelling of roses ? I mean you going to Uni was a big financial decision for you (plural) to make - I'm assuming that you (plural) made it together?
and btw the way their not your (singular) children - they're your (plural) children.2014 Target;

Could you put univeristy on hold until you can fend for yourself financially? It's great that you want to futher your education but surely stability should come first, then advancement? If it were me I'd focus on getting a job that either pays for childcare or works around their school hours and build up a nice amount of savings that would then see me through time in education. Or do the a part time or OU course.0

Three children: 8,715 / 12 = £725.
I belive I said I got £185 working tax credits which is true. I never said to the OP that she would be entitled to working tax credits, link even says tax credits in it.
What an utter idiot. Go back and read my first post. Look at the link I put.
At least I am backing up what I am saying and not just having a go at random people with random figures that seem to have come from mid air.
Starting to think you are just trolling now.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -

The only way she could do it through OU is to be sponsored by employer - which is getting less and less of an option each year.
I say go for it if you've been offered a place then do it - in 2/3 yrs time you'll have a decent earning capacity and be able to look forward to some financial security.
If he pays throughout then even better.
Look on www.ondivorce.co.uk for adviceMama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -
no apparently I could get income support and perhaps something towards the interest on the mortgage but I am not claiming this. I am not out to get whatever I can. I claimed tax credits- which enabled me to work my 18.5 hour a week job as I could pay for childcare.
As I have no childcare now, and a 2 year old, I cannot work at present. It'll be easier when she is 3. Working around school hours is a long time in the future. When I finish uni they will all be at school, and I should be able to support myself from when my youngest is in year 1.
I wasn't my money/his money initially. He was. He had his account and me not to know what he spent 'his' money on, what was in there. He needed his privacy. There was a 'joint' bills account. He had access to see what was in my account, and I did all the general spending for the household out of 'my' account. 'Mine and the 3 kids' account rather!!
A bit freudian the 'my' kids- well spotted. As I was always the one with the responsibility, even when we were with together, I guess they don't often feel like 'ours'. E.g. it's me that's had to give up my job due to childcare- not him!! But you are right. It should be 'ours',0
