Glad you got it resolved :) I've always found TT's forum excellent. Their very strange call centre staff is another matter (and TT aren't alone there of course).

I think it's good MSE get paid because it pays some bills -although not sure how long it will take to pay off the £87,000,000 Martin put in his pocket.

Don't think I've tried any of their offers (I'd like to see more especially money off coupons etc) but I'd hope they'd get the T&Cs right and be clear.

MSE has nothing to do with ANY of the firms that it mentions! Did you even bother to read the webpage you're on?
    Important! How this site works

We think it's important you understand the strengths and limitations of the site. We're a journalistic website and aim to provide the best MoneySaving guides, tips, tools and techniques, but can't guarantee to be perfect, so do note you use the information at your own risk and we can't accept liability if things go wrong.

This info does not constitute financial advice, always do your own research on top to ensure it's right for your specific circumstances and remember we focus on rates not service. We don't as a general policy investigate the solvency of companies mentioned (how likely they are to go bust), but there is a risk any company can struggle and it's rarely made public until it's too late (see the section 75 guide for protection tips). We often link to other websites, but we can't be responsible for their content.Always remember anyone can post on the MSE forums, so it can be very different from our opinion.

Chanz4, are you a moron? Backhanders?

    WHAT THE * MEANS ABOVE
If a link has a * by it, that means it is an affiliated link and therefore it helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment to the site. It's worth noting this means the third party used may be named on any credit agreements.

You shouldn’t notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links. We aim to look at all available products. If it isn't possible to get an affiliate link for the top deal, it is still included in exactly the same way, just with a non-paying link. For more details, read How This Site Is Financed.

Always read thoroughly before committing to anything. You're not buying 5p sweeties - you're buying a twelve month contract! If the offer is not better than what you're already on without the 'sweeteners', DO NOT SWITCH - simple!
Sorry, but the customer is not always right. Often, you're very very wrong.

That's the sort of thing that causes so many problems -common sense!

Have there been other posts in the meantime that have now disappeared? If not then you appear somewhat bonkers, with your triple posting several hours apart. :D

Ignore - I saw usernames starting with J and thought it was the same person. :(

    Don't be so patronising.

I did read carefully before clicking on the 'MSE Blagged' affiliated link to Talk Talk. The only negative term mentioned for the voucher offer on both MSE and Talk Talk is that the offer is not available if you need a new line. MSE says, "eg, have moved into a new house, currently have a cable line or use a provider that doesn't use a BT line"

I had an active line to my property and it is maintained by BT Openreach from the exchange to the front door. That is neither a 'new line', 'a cable line', or one that 'doesn't use a BT line'.

The reason given by Talk Talk for my ineligibility for the offer was because a BT Openreach engineer needed to do a switchover at the exchange from my previous provider's equipment to Talk Talk's. That engineer call-out has a cost to Talk Talk and that is why the voucher offer is only available to those whose switch doesn't require the use of a BT engineer. That's what an LLU switch requires and this should also be made clear in the terms on MSE's site that is advertising and receiving payment for carrying the offer. The member of staff at Talk Talk who took ownership of my complaint agreed the terms needed to be clearer to include those who switch from a LLU supplier to Talk Talk.

As I sad before MSE are supposed to be hot on ambiguous terms in consumer transactions. The terms of this offer need addressing if it is to run again. The current 'MSE Blagged' Talk Talk offer ends on 11th April so too late for any changes there. Here's hoping that next time they clearly advise who can and can't get the offer.

Yes, caveat emptor should always apply. But when I read carefully, both on MSE an Talk Talk before proceeding with the contract, and was still shafted by a hidden term, I think I'm right to be angry with both the advertiser of the offer (who is getting paid to advertise) and the company.

All transfers require the ue of an OR engineer at the exchange or street cab, it's not just 'flicking a switch at the exchange', as is so widely imagined.
Because it's not usually possible to do a direct LLU to LLU transfer, your switch was put through as a new line provision to get around this. This does not mean that a new physical line is actually laid-if an existing line is present and serviceable, OR will use that. But as far as OR and TT are concerned, you then have a 'new' line.
But you can't expect TT's call centre drones to understand the subtleties of this.

    blah blah blah.

The fact remains, if the deal you're switching to is not better than the one you're currently on without the sweeteners, don't bother switching, since these sweeteners cannot be guaranteed. This is basic stuff.

yes where a firm says push this deal as most follow, then we will give you a big bonus
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

What I was trying to get at is that MSE are very clear about how they make their money. They post affiliate links, and they'd have made money whether you'd clicked the TT, BT, Sky or Virgin links.

jenniWR we are all aware how mse makes money martin sold up a large percentage but that is another issue!

atm we all know the facts mse says we blagged this blagged that but mse doesn't lay all terms bare and this has happened on quite a few occasions with different offers but mse doesn't come along and admit those errors or offer to contact the companies get them put right so really its a offer non offer, but also the full non disclosure being the issue here which then costs people money.

also you going around calling everyone moron is not helpful and just damn right rude when you have something to say of a constructive nature please feel to join in, until then i suggest you actually read then think before typing again as the last the thinking you did, didn't work out that well and the point's where completely missed by you imho!
    many thanks
