Hi again Princessmoneysaver,
Just to say I've just checked my account and it's been debited £19.99 by Red House so it seems they've taken the payment for the 6 books immediately but won't be taking the £12.99 for the new book until it gets sent out. I hope that helps.

mmmmmmm the clue is in the title..Deal of the Day0 -
mmmmmmm the clue is in the title..Deal of the Day
mmmmmmm - clever you for going to all the trouble of ridiculing that
Yes it was stupidly worded (in my defence I've got the flu and didn't really read it properly) but there was no need to be so sarcastic in any case.
Wirehair - I don't know Tesco deals well and all I really meant by the question was do they tend to repeat the same "deal of the day" at any point soon after or are they strictly one-offsBy virtue of the title "deal of the day", as photome so kindly pointed out, I would guess one-offs but I thought it was worth asking if there have been any precedents of these deals being repeated so I could then look out for this one in case they do repeat it. Thanks.

ellybelly89 wrote: »yes whsmith are offering in store two £5 money off vouchers if u preorder the book with a deposit
I went for WHSmith as I've got all these points and thought it would be a good thing to get a book I really want with them. Unfortunately my local is only letting people in on the night who've pre-ordered (shocker! wonder if that will be the case...) so it took away my freedom to scoot to Waterstones if I don't like the look of the queue or the price...
And regarding that price - !!! - they are charging £10.99, so there is every chance I will be back in there next week to say I've changed my mind and want my points back... I did get the free book which I'm not sure I want, and the vouchers which are £5 off a spend of £12 (x2) and expire this Thursday (presumably to make them redundant for HP7 sales...)
You can see I'm really wrestling with this - can I stand the overpayment (after all those 200 hundred points are half a Doctor Who magazine!) in order to support the use of points over money... or not...
I hope some of the above is helpful for anyone else weighing up the various places and fringe benefits, and if anyone has heard WHS mention any sniff of price-matching I'd love to hear about it because then you never know I might get a rebate!!Do I Need One Stops All Unnecessary Reckless Spending£2 CSC - £30 :kisses3:0 -
I've just been in and pre-ordered it at Borders. It's £11.99 there, but you pay a £2 deposit and they give you a £2 gift card to spend in store before 24th August. On one leaflet it says on ANYTHING in store, but on another it says only books, dvds and music (i.e not magazines, or paperchase, or toys) which is a bit annoying, as I don't buy books or DVDs from there generally as they're so much dearer than online - anyway am sure i'll manage to use it somehow.
Because I am so worried like a previous poster that collecting it at a bookstore some heathen will flick to the back and announce the ending to the store, I am sending my partner to collect it, then I can get up whenever I want on saturday and start reading and not stop until I finish.
I got the last 2 books from Amazon. They were both delivered on the morning at about 7am, which is great in a way but also disturbed my sleep, meaning I was not fully alert when i started reading.
I don't mind paying the extra at borders, as it works out (with your gift card) at 9.99, and then you get the free goody bag (no idea of contents though) - so it's a good buy if not the cheapest - plus most of the Friday they have activities and events at borders including meet a "Hedwig" owl, magic shows, crafts and a HP quiz, so I might attend a fair bit of that, but i'm rather worried how long my partner will have to stand in line if he goes at midnight - maybe i'll send him at 8am the next morning while i have breakfast and prepare my reading area - I don't intent to budge from it until it's read, and will not be in earshot of the tv, internet or anything!0 -
I'm so glad I cancelled my Amazon order - I've just realised I'll be away at my IL's next weekend  Guess I'll take DD shopping on Saturday morningCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0

I had pre-ordered one adult and one childs book from Waterstones (since they said you would get an extra magic book) but received an email saying that they couldn't get the adult copy.
I cancelled my order and placed a new order at Amazon.
When I was going through the checkout process and selecting my credit card, I noticed on the banner add a special offer if you applied for an Amazon credit card they would take £15 off your order (you have to buy something else later on as well)
So I have now ordered 2 Harry Potter books for £2.98 (you get free postage as well !!!)
Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.0
