Same here! I saw Asda's "promise" that if you order before midnight Thurs (which I did) it would be delivered Saturday. Still no books today . I have just sent a complaint to their CS

Incidentally, my last order with Asda took over two weeks to arrive, even though the site said the item was in stock!

I complained to asda and I got this back:

Dear Customer, Thanks for contacting us. I'm sorry that you have not received your order. Your order was sent to you on Friday 20th July by First Class Royal Mail. This should allow for your delivery to arrive on Saturday 21st July. As the item you have ordered is a large hardback book it is unlikely it will post through a standard letterbox. If you have not already done so it may be advisable to check with your local sorting office on Monday to see if they are holding it for you. Alternatively it may be delivered on Monday. We would like to assure you that your item has been sent and are sorry that it has not arrived. In the meantime if it is necessary for you to obtain your book from elsewhere please contact us when your order does arrive and we can arrange for it to be returned and refunded. Should you have any further questions please contact our customer services colleagues at customerservices@asda-entertainment.co.uk and they will be happy to help. Our hours of opening are Monday Friday 8am - 6pm, Saturday 9am - 4pm. Many Thanks,
With Love From The Mistress xx :p

  • Mine never came yesterday from Asda so DH bought me a copy from Waterstones, don't know what to do when my other comes on Monday - if it comes on Monday. Started reading at 6pm last night, put it down at 11pm, started again this morning at 9am & finished by 10am!

What an ending though? Didn't see that coming.

I've waited till I finished the book before I ventured back onto the internet so I would avoid some *idiot* broadcasting the end.

Went to the local Asda just after midnight on Friday/Saturday and was surprised by the queue and number of people (the car park was like a busy Saturday daytime). Then of course, I wouldn't normally be there at that time either. :rotfl:

On the way to the store some stupid woman was walking back to the car with her husband and said that someone had just got injured as she looked at the back of the book! :rolleyes2 Luckily she didn't say anymore or who it was and considering injuries were aplenty in the first six, that saved her from a punching and me from an assult charge (how annoying would it be for someone to ruin for you like that?)!

Some yuves/oiks thought it amusing to shout ''Arry Pota sucks' as we queued, which was rather witty; I refrained from commenting that if their mother was to read it to them they may find they like it too. :)

    All good fun. :)

On the Friday afternoon before HP7 came out I was trying and failing to get home because there was flooding. I mentioned in a couple of places that it was lousy timing but hit non-HP fans each time who didn't seem to think it was much of a big deal...

I considered staying put overnight at Tewkesbury Morrisons at one point as I couldn't get home from there anyway (getting out was hard enough!) and at least I'd be able to buy a book to read. Glad I didn't however after seeing pics in the next few days of cars floating in the carpark.

I pressed on (slowly) toward Cheltenham and did on the way enquire at the Tesco with 24hr sign outside, with similar plans as at Morrisons, only to be told that no they weren't 24hr any more, and no they had no late/early or midnight opening for Harry Potter books :o (banner outside suggested otherwise though!)

In the end I made it to my Aunt's house, but only just, so it wasn't feasible to plan any midnight escapes either to the Sainsburys up the road (huge lake blocking the entrance) or back to town (via edge of said lake, some other bits of flooding and oh, I didn't have my prepayment booklet anyway).

Eventually I got Mr Potter at c.9:30 on the Saturday after returning cautiously home, helping the other half retrieve our car and finally hitting Tesco. In the end I did the spend £50 get HP7 for £5 though the till did nothing to effect this and I had to demand my discount at CS! ;) Everyone was siege shopping anyway so my big spend fitted in!

The smallprint of the WHS card did make life very difficult on the subject of then not buying the book from them but I was lucky enough to get a very nice assistant who appreciated that I would have been at the midnight opening as planned if only there hadn't been quite a large crisis in the interim.

I did enjoy the book

Lots of HP at Tesco. Unfortunately the £5 if you spend £50 offer was only for one week. So I missed it by one day. grrrrr.
