    Hi

I think you should get help for your debts. If you can get them down to a few pounds a month with interest and charges stopped. Cab, step change etc can help. Child maintenance options also have a maintenance calculator. As others said post a SOA on the debt free board to have a look at your spending. Check our food banks

Can I just say, aside from everything else, how I love to hear of dads (or mums) who are in this position showing so much care for their children. I know everyone separated should show this much care, however, so many don't. My (for the want of a better word) pond life "father" left my mother with 5 children and never paid one penny towards our lives. Abusive and a horrible horrible man. Made a a family, decided didn't like this life so made a new one without a look back.

Not trying to make this about me, however, my heart just warms to see someone caring so much. There can and will be a way for you to do this - great advice here as you know and I sincerely wish you all the best. This is better than heading off into the sunset, putting yourself first and saying 'I can't afford it, so sod it' ...you're a great dad! :T

From the point of view of time with the children, is there any possibility of flexitime with your work?
My bro works full time, but has the kids after school and overnight on wed pm, dropping them off at school thurs am. On his weekends, the weekend starts fri when he fetches them from school. Any helpful grandparents to fill in the gaps? Quality time with grandparents is usually considered a good thing.
Of course if she wants to argue the quality time issue, you having the children for some of the half terms and holidays would also be a reasonable request, if you could make your annual leave work for that? That could also be offset money wise against the weekends you no longer have them.
If the divorce is going through, have you looked at mediation to sort out access and finances. Is the maintenance just for the kids or for her as well, as if she's now working.....
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

You were the one who decided to originally cut down contact time because you wanted a social life so it's a bit rich to now be upset because your ex wants to spend quality time with the children too.

Where on earth did you get that from, cos OP didn't say it. Do you know him in RL?

Having read your other post's you were the one that asked your ex for a weekend or 2 off a month so you could have a social life! Obviously she did you know have them 3 outa 4 weekends. Giving you a weekend to yourself you wanted.
Now shes asking you to loose a weekend and shes demanding?
you know have 2weekends where u dont have your kids surely you save money that way?
Ignore reality. There's nothing you can do about it.

and the fact you moaned because your other ex dared asking for some maintenance for your first daughter despite some 'agreement' that you would pay nothing? Are you paying for your first born too now?
