The online manual they provide is not the easiest to follow, it has dozens of different model numbers.
If you have a working set of headphones, plug them in. Then try going into setting for the sound and see if there is a way to turn the internal speakers off.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
hang on lizzie stop don't buy a thing!0

how do I turn off the internal speakers / is it def possible with this model ? / and it's def not possible just to turn off one
As below, the dvd may be the fault. Try reversing the leads on the dvd player.0 -
the reason being i had a similar issue with my telly and dvd player but it turned out was the dvd player itself that was causing the issue not the cabling as this was all swapped out and changed over.
wait until you have got your Ariel and tv up and running normally from that first then check the sound but make sure your dvd player is completely disconnected from the telly before checking.
if still getting crackling then could be tv but be aware could be soundboard inside telly that may have a fault and not the speaker at all.0 -
Thanks basil but could this really be the case if it's just the right speaker?0
-
anything is possible you have a right and and left channel e.g. your red and white connectors from your dvd player could be a duff lead or could be dvd has had a bump or maybe the tv until you have that Ariel fitted and tv running normally with dvd disconnected you cant prove or dis prove the tv is at fault here0

for leads on yours yellow would be video , red is right channel sound white is left.
so in your case i would suggest on the back of the dvd player switching the red lead to white socket and white lead to red socket so you are effectively switching sound on the speakers and then see if you have crackling on the left speaker now or if crackling remains on the right.0 -
Hi yep it remains on the right
I've plugged headphones in (not sure what I did the first time - sound coves straight out and not crackly)
So I need to buy the new thing?
There's one in Argos for approx 40 quid - on amazon most are about 180?!0 -
also my issue on my dvd player was the connection was effecting the sound on my telly when the dvd was disconnected from telly this behaved normally then so got new player as the old one was very old point being the dvd player effected the sound on the telly and this was proved right after lead change over and new player bought in end and hey presto with same leads on old player the telly run perfect normally.
also regard your telly if dvd sound and leads are not at fault then has to be telly. if so have to determine if is speaker or board inside btw there is no way other jacking in headphones usually to kill sound as well which then means buying more stuff and is not a good way to constantly run a telly. you then have option get telly fixed by telly man if you do ask for a price for job before he starts.
also looking at your tellys specs its not quite normal its 2 channel but then is split down to 4 speakers have a look under audio.

question how old is telly?
its just as lg say is a discontinued product now guessing at least 3 years old.
lg offer a repair service for one off charge of £130 so a local telly repair man should be loads cheaper i would go for local telly man to quote you first of all.
or do you think it maybe time for a new one possiably just telly prices have fallen thru the floor lately they can't get rid of them quick enough atm.0
