Hello, years ago (when I was too young to remember but my mum has told me since!) in primary school I also used both hands for writing etc. My primary school teacher told my parents not to worry about it and that I'd finally decide on using one or the other hand - and I did and am now right-handed! So I'm sure like lots of other people have said on here it will be fine and nothing to worry about especially when your child is still so little. :-)

I'm cack handed as it's known in our house. Write left handed, throw/bat right handed, predominantly right footed at football, use a mouse right handed but comfy left handed. I won't go any further! ;)

I always thought my son was right handed until he had to have a medical towards his statement of special needs at 11years.
The doctor asked him what hand he used and he said both. I butted in and said "Don't be silly!"
After the Doctor did his tests he turned to me and told me my son was right.:o
He's clumsy as hell with both sides!
But if ever I stray from the path I follow

My DS is ambidextrous - he tends to use his left hand to write most of the time but uses his right to bat/catch/throw. It definitely came in handy last year when he shattered his left elbow in PE last year. He was able to do his school and homework with his right hand until the cast came off.

IMHO its an excellent skill to have so I didn't push DS to settle for one side or the other. It amazed me how DS would happily sit writing or colouring with one hand then just switch to the other and carry on. He still does that today.

btw - neither I nor my XDH are left-handed. The only other left-handed person in either family is my father, so not sure that it runs in families.

My son is 6 and has always showed signs of being ambidextrous. When he started school he used his right hand to write with but he's left-handed for most other things: he throws, holds a racket and wants to eat left-handed.

He'll sort himself out the best way of doing things for him - it's not a bad problem to have!!
