UKCPS Parking fine Court papers

Hello
Around christmas time i have parked in a disabled bay on my local retail park. I came back to my car to fine a Parking charge notice on my window, it all looked very legitimate as they do, but was wise to private companys doing this and thought i would not pay it. I did a bit of googleing to double check the company etc.
Anyway i had all the usual bulk mail off them telling me if i pay early as a good will gesture they would reduce the fine and so on. I made no contact with them at all. About a month and a half ago i got issued with a claim form stating it was from northampton county court, this got me a bit worried but i read that this was just one last good attempt to scare me so i decided to ignore it.
Today however i have just recieved a 'Judgment for Claimant' letter in the post saying i must pay £175 to the claimant.
I have just rang the court to make sure this is genuine. It is genuine and the lady told me i can pay it, have it put aside but will have to pay £80 to do this and there is no gaurentee it will get put aside.
I am not very well educated in matters like this and i am just curious as what to do.
I would also like to add, my friend works on the burger van on my local retail park and knows the guy who hands these fines out i have spoken to him and he tells me they dont take it to court as it costs to much and that if i had knew him when the ticket was given he would taken it back.

Thanks for the reply.
There is no hearing or case number. There is a cliam number.0 -
Your main problem is because you "ignored" an official claim then it would be difficult to persuade a judge to set it aside. The judge would also have to make a decision as to your chance of defending the initial claim.
Now if you did not receive a claim then it would be possible to have it set aside for that reason!
It is always emphasized not to ignore court papers, or to at least make sure they are not official.
Its up to you now to decide if you want to chance £80 and fail to have it set aside, or have it set aside and lose, or bite the bullet and pay the CCJ so it does not effect your credit file.0 -
You probably need additional advice on this https://www.pepipoo.com is a good place to get more. You only have two choices though, either pay the judgement in full, or pay to have it set aside as stated. But that may not work as you have ignored a claim. If they refuse to set it aside you still need to pay the claim. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

Why were you parked in a disabled bay?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It doesnt look good then

I am trying to post now on pepipoo but i cant start a new topic or reply to any threads.
Whats your advice guys would you bite the bullet and pay it.0 -
Personally I would!
Its a pity you never realised it was an official claim, and in your defence I will say some of the claims sent out do look as if they have been made on a John Bull printing set.(showing my age there)
Depending on the circumstances you would most likely won this claim or UKCPS would have folded if defended.0 -

Perhaps he is named Gideon and is Chancellor of the Exchequer.:)0 -
They are only looking at default judgements, they really don't win defended cases as they will have travel hundreds of miles, and maybe have a stay in a hotel just to bring a case. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. I have just been down to the retail park and spoken to they guy, hes saying ignore it but i dont think he understands thats its gone this far even though i have told him, hes told me he is going to speak to someone he knows on the otherside that deal with the paper work side of it.
Am i right in saying there is not much chance i can defend my case now. Its my own fault at the end of the day i suppose.0
