I never thought I'd want a PPC to win a case but...

...it seems just for once the motorist caught abusing the disabled parking bays is even more vile and descipable than any PPC could ever hope to be!

In fairness to the Rt. Hon. Mr Osborne, and his Police driver who actually parked the vehicle, it should be pointed out that the "disabled bay" was in a motorway service area, and therefore not covered by any statutory regulations regarding bay markings, signage, etc.
This is not to say that I, or most of the regulars on here, would condone the misuse of such bays which are clearly intended for use by those with disabilities (including, but not limited to, blue badge holders), but the fact remains that marked bays on private land have no legal standing.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
He's still a [CENSORED], though. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

The vehicle wasn't ticketed though, so how can a ppc win anything? And it wasn't him parking there but the driver, your interpretation and the press is that a passenger in a vehicle should be liable, tell me how would that work? When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. Which part of 'he was dropped off outside the service station. While inside, his driver parked the car' did you miss?
I have no problem attacking politicians when they commit offences or offensive actions, but it is scraping the barrel with this one. Typical Mirror.
Obviously Osborne would have wanted to be dropped off and not walk and equally would not have had his driver eat with the rest of the party, for those who think he would have been in the car when it was parked.0 -

It's not legally wrong but it's unquestionably morally wrong, although someone on another thread did suggest that maybe he was entitled to use the disabled bay on account of him being brain dead.
And the driver is acting as his agent so Ozzy's jointly and severably responsible for the actions of his agent (at least as far as I'm concerned

On that flawed logic, Mr Osborne is acting as your agent for running the economy. So how many trillion do you owe us, Andy? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Like to see who the DVLA gives as RK and if POPLA would allow an appeal. Anyway can we keep politics and anti government off this forum, pleanty of room on DT for this.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Which part of "One disgusted onlooker – a businessman in his 40s who admitted being a Tory voter – said: “I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw his driver pull into the disabled parking bay. "It’s not as if they were in a rush to move. The car park wasn’t exactly full and there were plenty of other, ordinary spaces.”" did you miss
.
According to other reports he was sat in the car for 10 minutes so he had plenty of opportunity to suggest to his driver that it might be a good idea to move elsewhere. On that flawed logic, Mr Osborne is acting as your agent for running the economy. So how many trillion do you owe us, Andy? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I wish he was acting as my agent, at least that way I could hand him his P45 and tell to **** off, or more to the point I would have done so three years ago. As for how many trillions the buffoon has cost the country I've no idea but I dread to think how much damage he's caused so far

Perhaps this person wouldn't believe his eyes when others park in a disabled bay without a badge on display ? I'm not defending the esteemed politician or his driver here, but we advise every single day on here not to pay fake tickets for parking in disabled bays on private land.
The shock horror being reported is just cynical to say the least, people make mistakes every single day, blaming the passenger for something the driver did is pathetic. The gutter press has certainly hooked some brainless people on their site. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. Its always a shame when people conflate legal and moral arguments.
That said, even had the BB bay been subject to statutory provision the police driver's powers to waive the restrictions would have trumped any action.
The best illustration of how much effect a PPC is going to have on a vehicle being used by a police officer on duty was well illustrated by our old friends Shoal Enforcement when one of their staff clamped a car being used by a royalty protection officer at Portsmouth. Hants Police 1 Shoal 0. It has long been suspected that that incident resulted in (or at least contributed to) Shoal's departure from the BPA.
On a side note Shoal's website has now been reduced to its payment portal and I see that at the 28-day mark their invoices run out at £180.My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0
