Npower Rant! Court Action Threatened When Bill Already Paid 2 Months Ago!!!!!!!!

Afternoon peeps,
Appologies in advance for my long rant, but am so angry at Npower since I moved house.......

We bought a house in January & gave final meter readings for both gas & electricity on our old property, to Npower, as you do when you move.
Received final bills for both as normal. Paid both before the stated date. Was £308.71 in credit with gas once final bill was taken off (paid DD), so was told I'd get a refund back into my bank. End of.

Or so I thought........

Recently I have been hounded with reminder letters for the non-payment of the electricity, £25.24. Even though I paid back in early February mind. I have phoned them on numerous occasions to say I have paid & have a reference number & bank statements to show this. Last time I rang 2 weeks ago after another demanding final reminder letter, they said the system showed all paid so they didn't know why I was getting reminders & assured me I wouldn't get anymore letters.

Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I have received a TeleMessage letter saying electricity still remains unpaid & they were getting in touch with a debt collection agency & were considering a county court summons.:eek:
This is bearing in mind they still OWE ME £308.71 for my gas refund, that I still haven't received. A total joke!

Straight on phone again & am quite angry at this point. Passed to collections department & they didn't have a clue as to why the account is still being chased when the bill has been paid & why after 2 months of leaving last property it's still going on. Anyway, they have promised me no further action would be taken as everything was clearly up to date, & they have put a note on the old account that I disgruntled about all this, just incase anything crops up again with letters etc.

Cannot believe the way Npower treat their customers. Been with them for years & never had a problem with them, until I moved house. Clearly someone not inputting the data correctly in their systems.......Regretting keeping them on at new house now.

So,
I am still waiting for the refund for the gas, assured me I would receive soon, after promising for the last 2 months. And the electric account? Supposedly sorted now. So they say.

Was that a flying pig I just saw whizz past?!!!!!!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Npower - Good or bad?
Bad in my case.

Perhaps you should send an identically worded letter to the one they sent to you with regards to the money you are owed ;)

My big thick pile of reminder letters & bills from Npower.:mad::mad:
  • I think I'd just reply and say 'see you in court then' - they'll be laughed out in no time.
If you lend someone £20 and never see them again, it was probably £20 well spent...

Exactly what I would do, but in different letters that I have cut out from a magazine.

Certainly true, they'd have no leg to stand on. :p

Even better, let them start court proceedings and issue a counter-claim for the money they owe you.

They soon back down then! I even have proof I paid it with ref. number & bank statement so they wouldn't stand a chance. Then I'd switch the tables to the money they owe me back. They'd be left red-faced by the end of it! :D

  • Hi CrazyChick80,

I know just how you feel: I've spent a lot of time dealing with npower over the last few months.

Unfortunately, there are many issues with npower's 'new system' as documented in the long thread:

Warning: npower accept new customers without sending them a Contract
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4273611

The 'new system' has lost Customer's data: not only new Customer's data.

See the 80 most recent posts for some examples.

To make sure that you have an Official Complaint phone 0800 316 9328 and get a Complaint Number.

For Domestic Contract Complaints see npower's Complaints page at
    http://www.npower.com/Home/customerservices/contact-customer-services/complaints/index.htm

However, if/when you Complain it is best to put everything in writing.

As npower are using a 'broken system' there are, naturally, many Posts (in the thread above and other linked threads) about difficulty in contacting npower. I advise you to be proactive in your dealings, the Customer Service staff are also having to use the 'broken system'.

As you have experienced, Customer Service is important when you need it. ;)

See the survey at Which? - conducted in October and November 2012.
    Energy companies rated
    http://www.which.co.uk/switch/energy-suppliers/energy-companies-rated
npower are 15th (the worst) rated Supplier!
I guess, in light of the ongoing issues that it will take npower a long time to improve their rating.

    Best wishes,

    Hi CrazyChick80,

Can I take a look into this for you? If you've paid, as you say you have, then it looks as though something needs to be done to stop this follow up action you've been getting.

Pop me over your details to forumresponse@npower.com and I can get onto this for you.

    Many thanks,

    Adam :)
