Has anybody had any dealings with these people? What they do seems too good to be true - rescuing animals in Cyprus and re-homing them in the UK for just £100. The usual advice is don't part with money until you have seen the pet but this may be the exception that proves the rule? They have a web and facebook presence together with a tear-jerker of a tale. If anybody on here can confirm they are genuine I am tempted to use them / support them.

Without wishing to decry what they do in other countries, I think we have a big enough dog problem in the UK. Try a local rescue - at least if the dog proves to be not suitable you will be able to return, or do a try out. I doubt you could do that with a dog from abroad.0

Caroline whilst you have a valid view on the matter it is not the only possible one and it did not in any way contribute to answering the question I asked. I presume though that this means you have not encountered Cyprus Pride House.Life is like a box of chocolates - drop it and the soft centres splash everywhere0

They appear to advertise on Pets4Homes, and the adverts say that the animals are in Halifax, West Yorkshire... then when you click on the cat or dog it then says it's in Cyprus. Cats seem to be £100 and dogs £200, but I find it difficult to believe that involves transport costs, vaccinations, etc etc. They also appear to have almost gone under last year.0

On their "adopt" pages there are photos but no info about HOW to adopt from them.

Contact - just a form, no phone/address/email address etc
No idea what to think to be honest...

Yes they seem to run an awful lot of fundraising on a charitable giving site which seems to net about £1500 per month. A lot of the donors are regular and some leave what look like updates about animals they have taken on. They do seem to have people in the UK who foster some of the animals whilst they wait further re-homing. They have an Amazon wish page and people clearly buy pet supplies on there to be delivered to Cyprus. The totality of the evidence and the length of time over which it has built up suggest strongly they are both altruistic and genuine - or committing the most elaborate fraud I have ever come across
Edit they also maintain a twitter presence which may be the main method of contactLife is like a box of chocolates - drop it and the soft centres splash everywhere0 -
The site is registered to an individual in a terraced house in Hayes. Seems a little odd... http://whois.domaintools.com/cypruspridehouse.com
The lack of contact information on the site would make me very suspicious. A rescue centre should have a telephone.0 -
The reason I am looking at things like this at the moment is I have 2 CKCS. The ruby has a high severity heart murmur. We had 2 CKCS before and last time when the first died the second gave up and refused to eat or move again. I am thinking of getting a younger companion for them to give the longer lived of them something to go on for. If I can improve the lot of another animal at the same time then so much the better
esuhl: thanks for the info as it may have led me to the UK end. I am waiting to see if he responds to the message I sent himLife is like a box of chocolates - drop it and the soft centres splash everywhere0 -
They are legit.
I got involved with them after finding a poorly kitten on holiday in October 2011. I made contact with them, personally met June who runs the rescue and he came to join the clan with another kitten early last year.
A volunteer based in Halifax who has previously adopted animals from them advertises the animals on pets 4 homes. There are a few animals already in the UK on foster. I've currently got 2 dogs lodging with me.
I've got their address, phone number etc. and they're happy to give it out once they have genuine interest in an animal.
ETA: the main method of contact is initially email- junemichaelcyprus@yahoo.co.uk0 -
