how exciting - a new home :j and it sounds lovely, may need some orange flock wallpaper to go with that avacado suite, luckily retro is very in at the moment:j Very envious of that big garden, you will have to try the grow my dinner thread here somewhere. I love just nipping out to our container garden and pulling up some veg for a free lunch.
And just popping in to say that you can get overpayments back from nationwide. We are with them and this does away with my need for huge savings. We were in a fix until last year with them and have noticed a huge differance since ours ended.mortgage 1 33,000. paid nov 2012
. mortgage 2 87,000 due 51,686.76 at july 2013, but then:new home and remortgage ... £101065.43:eek: now 74k0 -
Sounds fab and certainly something you can add value to. We have always moved into 'renovation projects!' and it has certainly helped with the MF journey! Its amazing how good you get at DIY too!! We moved somewhere with a pink bathroom suite once - I loved it but OH ripped it out

Remember to eb@y everything you rip out - its amazing what people will buy!!Mortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k

Thanks Laura and Kirsty  Great tips about ebaying everything, that is a good idea. I've had a look on ebay and noone seems to be selling a mustard coloured bathroom suite for me to be able to check against it!

On another note, I think the solicitor's and estate agents reckon they've landed themselves a monster!
I've spent all morning on the phone getting people to do things much more quickly than they wanted to! (I'm not pushy, honest! :A) But, everything that can be done is done so hopefully our buyer won't walk away seeing as he's been waiting 5 months so far, what's another 4 weeks!?
Today's plan seems to be going well although I still need to clean the oven - I seem to be very good at putting that job off!
the sofa's are advertised in the 2 closest shops so hopefully someone will want them. If not then I'll ebay them but I'd rather they went local as it saves faffing around and the dreaded buyer who finds the mark I haven't photographed and put in the listing and has a fit ruining my ebay empire! :rotfl:
So motivation needed to clean the oven and the rest of the house really!Saving to sort the house fund! 10000/20000

Update so far! All the paperwork that can be done is done so now waiting for contracts etc. before the searches can commence. Not heard confirmation that our buyer is waiting but our solicitor has filled in their solicitor and hopefully they'll hang on just a touch longer. I have cleaned the oven!! :j (Yuck!) So 3 out of 4 jobs ain't bad. Going to clean the house now before I start doing some marking. Quite productive really!

Another chalk? How do.

Certainly am another chalk although I've only been doing it for 3 years so I'm not sure if that makes me more of a whiteboard pen! But I did the classic thing of promising to do marking and then distracting myself by making a lemon drizzle cake with the remnants of my baking box!
I believe that counts as a step towards mortgage freedom because I didn't buy it!
Off later to look at the house again and the surrounding area. I need to start thinking about whether I'm going to move my horse out there or leave him where he is. It would be an 8 minute journey each way if I leave him where he is but I would have to use the car as it really is too far to cycle without using all my spare time whereas at the moment I can cycel in 10 minutes so saving fuel and meaning I can eat more cake! Going to go and have a wander and see what I can find and then make a decision. He can stay where he is for a few months but I think I'll have to move him in time for the winter because its so much extra work. Hmmmm, decisions, decisions!

So no real conclusion on the horse situation although we had a lovely walk all through the village and surrounding footpaths until we found the pub!:D Turns out it's only a ten minute walk away!
We've now fully convinced ourselves we are doing the right thing, even though it's going to cost us a fortune and is likely to slow down our MFW journey considerably. We truly believe this will be our forever home so I guess we have to look at it from a long term perspective. We are also lucky that I am 25 and Mr FF in 29 so in theory we have a little while yet to make sure we are sorted financially and also lucky that we are in the position to be able to buy our forever home whilst we are so young.
Off now to eat steak (reduced in Lidl!
) and spuds. Tomorrow's plan is to see all the family who think I don't exist during the term time and to have a roast with my parents so there's always stacks to eat and it never has a budget in mind.
Something productive that I did do today was a freezer and cupboard audit! (Yes, it was an interesting as it sounds! :rotfl:) I've written down all the contents of the freezer and cupboard so that I can start using all of it up (ideally before we move). I haven't bothered with the fridge because with Mr FF around nothing really hangs around in there for very long!

Update so far..it seems hopeful that our buyer will hang on so long as we can force things through really quickly so I'm spending time chasing people. Currently at the top of the list are the mortgage people so that I can get the details changed from the previous property we were buying. I don't think this should be too much of an issue as the amount of money isn't changing just the place and the purchase price of the property.
On a MSE drive at the moment though. We are desperately trying to save every penny to ensure that we can pay back the family asap. Currently I'm eating whatever I can find in the cupboard without having to buy anything extra at any point. Hopefully this will help with moving as well because we won't have as much !!!! to shift! :rotfl:
Anyway, enough of my random ramblings!Saving to sort the house fund! 10000/20000

Still waiting for the mortgage to be amended! But the advisor did ring and say it should be quite simple so we've got another telephone appointment for this afternoon! Seem to be spending a long time going around the roundabout but hopefully from this afternoon it will be sorted and then tomorrow I can ring the solicitors and feel like I can justifibly chase them because I've done my bit!

OH has this week off as it was meant to be our original moving date so we're planning on doing things that cost no money at all! Yesterday we spent the day at OH's parents helping them get their new sofa in and shampooing the carpets. Today we're off on a proper yomp across the moors! Should be great. I love being outside walking (even though the weather is yuck!) and I'm going to make a flask of tea and take the end of the lemon cake I made the other day so that we don't stop somewhere on the way home for tea and cake! In theory today will be a NSD (except the dribble of diesel to get us to the moors - we're very lucky it's only an 8 minute drive!)
Have a great day everyone!
