Honestly, I'm not surprised you didn't get a reply.

Remember when you were a kid and you didn't like broccoli, how annoying it was to be told that you should eat it because there are children starving in Africa?

There will always be somebody worse off, but I don't think that means people aren't allowed to be a bit annoyed by the small stuff every now and then. Having a baby with a cold isn't a barrel of laughs, is it so wrong to expect a bit of sympathy from a friend.

I don't know about the broccoli question as I never had that guilt trip pulled on me as a child. Don't think its appropriate, and my mum didn't either I suppose. Interesting that some behaviours provoke others to treat them as a child.

What I really wanted to say to my friend was "All you ever do is whinge - FPS you have a healthy fit child. Can you not remember what Person A and B in this room are going through right now? And how you have offered no support to them in those major issues whatsoever? But hey, your baby has a runny nose. You poor poor poor thing."

    I thought I was quite restrained :D

I have a couple of work colleagues who constantly gripe about their work. When you are all in the same boat, all feeling stressed it is hard to keep above the negativity. What gets me is that the prime moaners where I work are part time and thus haven't had the glut of extra hours, more work and stress that the rest of us had purely because they haven't been there - no that would have given them something to REALLY moan about!!

I just let the words float through me, smile and move on - that or else I will pull out a AK47 from under my desk and blow them away!!
