I had a small bit of soup and a small bit of stirfry leftover, so mixed them together and popped in the fridge. Having them for lunch today so I'll let you know if it's nice lol!
Cheers, look forward to your update.

Hi Meg72,
This is the recipe I've always used:
Chinese (Char Sui) marinade:
125 g brown sugar(soft is best )
3 tablespoons boiling water
1 tblsp dark soy sauce
1 tblsp oyster sauce
2 tblsp rice wine or dry sherry
1 teaspoon sesame oil
Half teaspoon salt
Half teaspoon red food colouring
In a small bowl stir sugar and boiling water to dissolve then stir in remaining ingredients. Cool slightly then pour over meat. Leave for 8 hours or as long as you can. Overnight is fine.
When ready to cook drain of excess marinade and keep to baste. Barbecue or grill
Particularly good on chicken and pork.
HTH
Thanks for this, I was feeling very adventurous today and thought
I would give it a go so went to asda for ingredients was very pleased to find Whitworths Fine Demerara sugar at half price
50p so bought a few packs thinking of shortbread for christmas.
presents, then off to the world food aisle to look for Oyster sauce
and Wow it seems Asda are having a clear out of lots of sauces,
pesto etc, I got red and green pesto 38p a jar and the Asdagood for you pasta sauces in sachets were 10p, there were loads of other different jars of sauces and pastes, some I had never heard off. If you are into this kind of thing its really worth a look
I am going to try and make up some of those Pasta hampers that you see at Christmas, horribly expensive, for presents and and raffle prizes for the kids schools.
Also treated myself to strawberrys and grapes, got reduced carrots
at 30p a killo so arrived home well pleased with myself and 20.00 lighteronly to find that instead of Rice wine I had bought rice wine vinegar, so no Char Sui for me today but maybe tommorow :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Slimming World at target0 -

Decided to try the market but I was not impressed with their produce so I ended up only getting some bananas for 50p. Maybe the weekend is better, will try next time.Aiming to be debt free as of Sept 2013

Meg - you could possibly use the vinegar if you upped the sugar a wee bit to compensate for the acidity? Just a thought, save you buying another ingredient.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018
