phone missing after signed for by person not recipient

That's what they say they have done. Subtle but important difference. OP needs to clarify whether Reception have any record or memory of receiving the phone. If they don't, then unless the courier can prove otherwise, the phone has not been delivered. "Oh yeah, we left it with reception guv'nor" isn't good enough.
Original post states 'On checking why the phone had not arrived it seems it WAS delivered to his place of work but was signed for by reception, not him. It is now 'lost'. Just an update - you were right - Fraud dept say not their problem, as do Orange generally, despite my best efforts.
We have had to put the whole thing down to experience and will now decide whether to buy a new phone as we will have to continue with the contract for the next 24 months anyway or pay for two years for nothing.
Plenty of lessons learned!
- I could have had the phone delivered to the nearest shop which I didn't realise,
- when speaking to anyone at Orange get their surname and extension number or you will never find them again
-the freephone number for Orange (unfortunately only discovered late in the process!) is 08000790440, which may be of use to someone on here in the future!

I'm sorry it didn't work out (even though I was pretty certain it wouldn't). As was said, once it is signed for at the delivery address then they will not usually do much more. I do believe they have technology now which allows the drivers to 'prove' they went to that address (think it's some form of GPS thingy). I know hey used it when customers disputed replacements not turning up.
Also, I know there may be some dodgy drivers but I do believe they are few and far between and don't get anything from this situation because they know the phones are blacklisted as soon as reported missing.
Have you asked your son's employer to intervene/investigate?0 -

Why are you not pursuing this as theft from place of work???Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
