Right, well, what a difference a few hours have made! All overtime money OH earns is now going off the CC and he agrees that it's best not to use it. Also has agreed to a full spending diary and is aware of what we have t play with. On my part I have compromised too -we're not going to save up for the barclaycard but are going to save up from extra income sources (sealed pot, surveys, spare council tax money next month etc) for some carpet (we don't have any on the stairs, hall, william's room and we do need it, but I was happy without it - OH is so not!!). So we're aiming to go for around £700, although of course I'm getting OH to get the best bargain he can find :)

So while i am not completely happy, if this encourages him to see things my way, and I am also taking into account his wishes, then hopefully we'll be working together:)
    Here's hoping!

Thats good negotiating, Sea, well done you - both of you getting something of what's right for you, and neither feeling completely wronged. And its certainly in the right direction, isn't it.

And what *is* CJ? I know you do scrapbooking, but I've no idea what that really means.... :o:o

    :)

A CJ is a circle journal where you pick a theme, decorate a small album and then send it on to a group of other scrappers. Each person then decorates a page in the album (to whatever theme the original 'owner' chose) and then once the pages have all been done (once your album has been round the circle of people) then you get yours back completed with lots of people's designs in it:)
    Does that make sense? :)
Scrapbooking often has photos in - so my albums are mainly of the kids, but for CJs you might just put in drawings, or be really creative, or just journaling.

    hi

Well, counted up savings in terramundi, while also managing to save it for another use :) and we've now got £131.45 towards the carpets :D I think because we're in the DMP, having another concrete thing to save for will help us both be more focussed, as it's not like we ca just pay off a few £s etc each week, which would have the obvious immediate benefit.

I'm really looking forward to carpet - we haven't had it upstairs since soon after we moved in - over a year now!!

Sea, I think your idea of a carpet fund is a good one - something you can both work on, and hopefully once OH gets into the swing of things, he will be converted more into the "cult of Martin" :D

My OH has always been completely oblivious of all things financial - but I have now got him clicking on surveys, and today he played free bingo!! It can be done :rotfl:

(mind you, we have been together for 22 years and it has taken me this long :o )

Thanks Hypno - he said I was obsessed with the debt! lol

Right - any CJers - seriously having a moment here - I have just been looking for inspiration and have found so many different examples and they are all far too gorgeous! Am seriously freaking out about the fact that mine is still not done, and that I am not good enough - where have you all found the inspiration? And why did I choose the theme I did? Mind is BLANK.

Sea whatever you decide to do with your CJ I'm sure will be fab. It is yours and as such the only thing you need to live up to (as it were) is your own idea! Stop beating yourself up about this and start it... however it goes you will have tried (and created something unique to you) and thats what matters! Pick your fav bits and papers etc and start! :D

Oh god listen to me... I must start taking my own advice :o :rotfl: :o:o
