The offensive and totally unprovoked post has now been removed.

Let's hope that it is the last of that nastiness - on this thread and others.

I am allergic to the stuff, so much so I can have an anaflatic shock and could die. This is not just with drink but anything which had neat alcohol or parfin alcohol consentrate i.e. certain makeups, washing liquids, perfume etc etc. You would be surprised on what contains it.

My OH does drink if he wants but doesn't normally. Our friends are respectful and understand and make sure my drinks are not spiked (you would not believe how stupid people can get to try and "prove" if I am)

I do have difficulties at work as with our customers "entertainment" is part and parcel with with our work. It is difficult sometimes to be involved and see how they act when they are plastered. I guess it's because I have never been drunk so I cant comprend.

However, I do have a fab time when I am out without drink (I also dont smoke) and normally the 1st one on the dancefloor or on the kariokee (not that I am any good lol) so you dont need to drink to enjoy life ... however each to their own and is always interesting to see my mates reactions the day after the night before lol

Nope, he/she will just waste their life sitting around smoking, putting dope before thier career, family, friends, playing russian roulette with their mental health.

Cannabis abusers are no better than alcoholics, if you really believe that you are sadly deluding yourself.
I have known many a cannabis abuser sadly and also many alcoholics and from personal experience yes I would go for the cannabis abuser, yes they may be a waste of space sometimes but they are not subjecting their family and friends to watching them killing themselves with poison which will inevitably lead to hospitalisation, cannabis abuse is subjective and have I have said before I know many long term smokers none of whom have had mental health problems.
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.

What isn't true? That alcoholics are physically dependent?

Ah yes, extrapolating and generalising from personal experience.

    Just coz, don't mean......

It all depends on genetic make-up and predisposition as well as length of use.

Cannabis hasn't been as widely available in such variety as it is today. There hasn't been enough time to assess the long term effects of prolonged use across a wide cross section of the population.

As with alcohol, some people are absolutely fine, others become paranoid and potentially self destructive or violent - there's no way of telling who'll do what before they take the first dose.

Lung conditions? Some rarely seen in younger patients are being seen in increasing numbers decades before they should be noticable especially since there is less heavy industry and fewer life long smokers out there - what that could be down to is anyone's guess.

Just coz you've never seen/heard of it, don't mean it can't/hasn't happened.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

I think there are crossed wires here, I can't be sure because your posts are so short, but I think you might have misread mine.

You said "You can't go without drinking for days without having unpleasant withdrawal symptoms."

This is not always true! Where could wires be crossed? :)

Any mind altering substance has the potential to harm imho as it is altering chemical reactions in the body and alters ones awareness and perception. That alone can put one in a situation where judgement is impaired and long term use can in some cause damage and of course excessive use can kill in various ways be it shortening life expectancy, inducing mental health issues that lead to problems including suicide to sudden death. Just speak to medical staff in a&e, mental health workers and the police who deal with this day in day out.

We all have a choice whether or not to do any drug be it the legal ones tobacco or booze or the illegal ones but equally we should except there are proven health risks will all just as there are proven benefits with all in moderation.

That bit aside booze is a cause of so much misery from making town centres no go areas on weekend nights due to the drunken vomiting fighting etc. fags well I am an ex smoker so best not get me started on that, equally I do not choose or wish to be exposed to any other drugs as I choose not to use them.
I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.
