Whether you think you can use office to a very high standard is not helpful unless you have either work experience in it or a qualification/piece of paper to show it in order to get a job in an office. You can put on your application form that you can use office to a high standard and tell them in an interview but if you have work experience in office this will be stated in a reference or if you have done a course at least you have it on paper.0 -

I am just screwed up in right mess at the moment with no choices and parents going off the rails because I don't have a good job at the moment.
I really did hope this pt job would have come off to buy me some time but it is too late my parents are going mad now as I have not got it.:beer:0 -
When I was at uni, many moons ago (ok, 6 years ) I had a good working knowledge of Microsoft applications......... but I still took the time to take courses to boost my knowledge of parts of Office that I didn't use regularly. The company that employed me were impressed with how much:
a) work experience I'd gained during holidays, which I twisted to fit into the specific application
b) how much "extra" I'd done to improve my skills. Not blowing my own trumpet too much, but it's what people look for - especially nowadays!
By the way, today I was offered a job that hadn't been advertised..... the agency that I'd signed up with sent my CV off, which resulted in an interview and a job offer........Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -

If you go to an interview with IT modules and a GCSE and some one is sat there with a Geography degree, no IT GCSE but they have an ECDL which they studied while working at a Mcjob then they are more likely to get the job. Especially if the job decription asks for relevent updated qualifications
My parents would simply never ever allow me to work at a fast food store so that is a bad idea for starters. This is why I wanted this pt job to allow me a while to have a look at further qualifications and some temping too, but all my plans always get wrecked.:beer:0 -

My parents never wanted me to work in a factory, but sh*t happens. It's money, it's character building and it keeps you off the street and internet.
That said, I bumped into an old school friend last weekend. She'd finished uni and got a job typing and making tea. She's stayed there for the past 9 years AND has progressed rapidly.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0
