As stated by the doubters, two different tyre brands fitted, that the people attack me state. I don't recall a time when Vauxhall fitted mis-matched tyres to their cars. That have different pressures in them, from the ones stated by the manufacturer, as they were clearly not OE fitment.

Quote all you like from the owner's manual, but this is clearly NOT what they was asking.

Did the OP state which version of the car they were using? NO. It says a Vaxhall Estate. Not a higher performance of the vehicle.

So methinks that some people need to learn how to read clearly, and understand what they are commenting on before they actually post, and abuse me. The posted evidence is useless, as it's from the user manual; and the wheels/tyres are obviously retrofit. Lern to raed.
I think you should take your own advice. Just because the tyre's a different brands doesn't mean anything, they are still the same size as the standard, manufacturer recommended size. You say the OP never mentioned which version of the Astra estate he had, then I suggest you read the thread again, paying particular attention to post #22.

So to recap, 205/55 R16 are a size available to this model of Astra and the tyre pressures are clearly shown in the user manual.

The tyres fitted to this particular vehicle, NOT an option at the time; Vauxhall WOULD NOT FIT MISMATCHED tyres.

So, as the tyres are non standard, do not appear in any user manual.

Help the poster, rather than being unable to read threads, then commenting unhelpfully.

To recap - for your memory - Vauxhall DO NOT FIT mismatched tyres to their vehicle; It might have been an option to fit different tyres, but never mismatched. Especially on this vehicle, maybe a performance car.....But never mismatched.

No-one is saying they would, or did. The car is 7 years old, Unless the owner/s have used it once a week to go to church and back, it will almost certainly have had new tyres at some point, and maybe several sets.

Vauxhall WOULD NOT FIT MISMATCHED TYRES.

But - THE SUBSEQUENT OWNERS MIGHT OVER THE COURSE OF NEARLY A DECADE.

Oh my god.............Is this a joke!!!!!!!

The OP wants to know about tyre pressures for his vehicle. It has NOTHING to do with brands of tyres.

The car can come from the factory with Michelins all round for example. I can change the front 2 for Continental and the rear 2 for Bridgestone's. As long as they are all 205/55/16 and the same load index and speed rating, although not necessarily for the last 2, the tyre pressure will be the same no matter what as the pressure is set according to the weight of the vehicle. 205/55/16 is a fit for the Astra mentioned.

Also, you will see there may be pressure for normal use but if you are "loading" the vehicle to go off on your jolly's there may be a higher pressure recommended to deal with this extra load.

OP, ignore what this person is saying, it is totally incorrect and irrelevant.

But what you are ignoring is this type of type was never standard, on that particular vehicle. Thus never mentioned in any user manual. 205/55/16 is for a higher performance vehicle, and they were changed later than supplied. So the manuals don't say the correct pressures. These muppets on here just seem to suggest correct, but to the wrong vehicle. You can never beat forum !!!!!s.

Ratboy, read this as per the original post.

You will find that the 205/55/16 is standard fitment and please read from 342 onwards.

Every reference to a 16 inch wheel is 205/55/16 apart from the spacesaver spare.

The link is the owners manual for all Astra's for the 2007 year.

As far as us muppets go, do you have big feet, a big red nose and go by BoBo the clown? Cause you have just made yourself look like one with absolute rubbish you have spouted in this thread.

A very brief peruse of the internet shows that this is one of the standard size wheels and tyres for this car, including on 1.6 petrol engines.

Your reasoning if taken to extreme would have nobody allowed to fit anything but the original manufacturer and model type of tyre, which is unlikely to be possible as from time to time manufacturers supersede the previous ones with new ones.

All tyres of a size are fairly likely indeed going to have the same recommended pressure for a particular car, seeing as they are built to be the same strength, and the type of car is the same weight whatever tyre is fitted.

If you'd bother to look anything up instead of concentrating on slagging other people off, you might have discovered some of these things by now.

:wall: Yes you got that right.

I'll repeat in big letters for you - 205/55 R16 TYRES ARE A STANDARD FITMENT FOR THE 16" WHEEL OPTION ON THE VAUXHALL ASTRA ESTATE 1.6 SXI AND THE CORRECT PRESSURES ARE MENTIONED IN THE MANUAL - see page 342.

Thank god schools are back on Monday.

Don't forget that when you check the tyre pressures on the outside of each wheel, you need to check the pressure on the inside to make sure they are balanced : )

That should be checked at the same time as the indicator fluid.
