I just spent most of the day playing with/organising my toiletries and make up. I've realised I feel overwhelmed when I have more than one type of product, so why do I buy more? For example, if I have more than one toothpaste I feel like I have a stash going on and it becomes more of a stress rather than an opportunity to try something new later/a bargain/whatever reason I had for buying it in the first place.

I'm getting through my product stash quite quickly and am down to just one item each for toothpaste/ shampoo/ shower gel/face moisturiser/ eye cream/body exfoliator. I just hope I don't sabotage myself and put in a random order and set myself back!

The other thing that was really bothering me today was all my make up, and in particular my brushes. I can't use my brushes up, so they will always be there... and it seems a waste to throw away expensive brushes... but I feel I have too many and they're interfering with my desire for minimalism! Dilemna... I'm not sure whether I should get rid of some stuff because I have bought too much in the past, and now realise I don't need so much even though there is nothing wrong with the things I have (everything is in good condition, and most cost me quite a bit). Or perhaps I need to try and be more comfortable with a bit of clutter?! I swear my obsession with keeping things clean & organised wastes so much of my life lol!

    Can anyone relate?

Thanks aimme13! :D I was the same as you - it was on my mind to try for quite a while before purchasing it. Thing is, I don't think it's working for my face so well so I want to use it up in another way that's not wasteful. I love the smell of it. I'll probably use it as a hand cream!

Glad to hear you're feeling better :D

Have you looked at the Temptalia blog/site for colour matches? There is a pretty comprehensive list on there which I have used with spot on results

The ice cream sounds scrummy :T

Thank you for this, I will have a play later:T

I like the Steam Cream as a hand cream, particularly when I have excema.

It would be a shame to just throw out good quality brushes IMO, what about having a brush cleaning session and then looking out a set to use now, "filing away" all the others until you feel the need for a change around/clean set in use. Might also stop you acquiring more, as you will be up to speed on what you actually have. I have done this with all my unused make-up (not a huge amount, but enough lippie, mascara and eye shadow etc for getting on for a year). I need to sort my (limited) collection of brushes and clear out the moulting ones, instead of just replacing them in the drawer!

Hi everyone, feeling a lot better today thank you.

I made some Apricot and Almond Ice cream this morning, using condensed milk as part of the base, so I guess the lost pounds will be returning soon:eek:

I used to hate throwing anything away but have just sold 9 house books on Amazon as they have been in the guest room drawer for ages without anyone looking at them so thought £35 for things i never use is b etter than thinking OMG spent £Xs on them so have to keep them even tho I know I will probabaly never look at them much.Same applies to tolietries and have sold stuff I bought in rash moments sometimes for a loss and hopefully won't be tempted to buy again.I have stopped buying from Lush,Bodyshop and beauty boxes this year:Atho still buy the odd Clarins items when on offer. What I want to know is why I have 10 or more mositurisers and have run out of facial exfoliator?????
re make up,it annoys me that the amount I use of an item lasts years when the manufacturers say use within months:(
re read my Gok Wan book, section on make up and he says we only need 2 or max 3 eyeshadows and recomends palette to use alone or together to create different effects.........can we adopt him as our mascot?I would absolutley love a gay friend to shop with,DH when asked how I look says "wonderful darling"..........this would be good if he actually looked at me at the time:mad:

just suggested he take a samll shampoo on holiday as i also have some and gave him the one I got him at christmas........"is it any good he asked I thought it was just a free cheap sample one"........it was Kiehls and those of you who have bought it will know it was def not cheap:mad:(as if I'd give him a cheap sample as a pressie anyway:()

I keep trying to declutter too, most of the proucts I was not really keen on, or caused reactions have gone (either to CS or repurposed as shaving cream, foot/hand cream etc) but I have segregated the nice things into approximate use up order, and put some make-up on one side so I don't get tempted to try it before I have finished the opened ones. I rarely make impulse buys now, as I have recognised that the high only lasts minutes/hours for me. That said I could open a small shop, but in the main I am happy with what I have. I am resisting TSV's, boxes and free stuff I dont need, e.g. cut price body butter when I ordered what I do need (powder brush, lip liner pencil). One naughty due soon is the new Sarah Chapman hand treatment, the Clinique I am using does not seem to be doing much for the brown marks, when that is gone I have a sample of the Clarins one you liked ready to try too.

Have a great holiday (rolls eyes at the OH and the Kiehls):rotfl:

Parisian - I would suggest the same as Maddie has, wash and dry some of your brushes and put them away as spares, the others then will get used regularly and will eventually need to be replaced but it won't cost you anything then.

Rosemary - I agree with the date thing - eyeshadows say 12 months on some and they last years, eye cream is another, anything that goes near your eyes says 6 months but if it is in a tube and it just goes on the area around the eye it isn't a problem, they just have to cover themselves.

    Have a uu

Original Source Shea Butter & Honey shower cream - yum, yum this smells like caramel, it was DS's shower gel and is nice and gentle for him, I have replaced it with another of the same from the stash.

Painted my nails last night in Leighton Denny Meet me on Venus - I have a mini but need to get a full size, it is a perfect mauvey nude. I think of all the high end polishes I have tried LD are my favourite, the formulation and lasting power is great.

ps. What do people use steam cream for? I'm not too fond of putting it on my face, but I feel a bit guilty using the whole tub in one or two uses as a body cream!

Use as a night cream, to take your make up off...or yes, as a body cream. As long as it doesn't go off. ;)
