I am afraid you get what you pay for with ISPs.

If you want cheap just find the cheapest.

    Try looking here: http://www.thinkbroadband.com/isps.html

On the other hand if you want the best and it comes at a price, you wont get better than Zen internet.

The bundled ones (e.g TalkTalk , Orange, Sky, Virgin) work out cheapest nowadays at around £5 per month, however, quality may be questionable at times.

I would guess he means £5 but you have to add costs for phone and TV package.

You wont get better than Zen, but it is costly.

Maybe you should look around a bit more, I am not trying to put you off Zen but maybe quality is not as important to you as it is to me.

    EDIT:

I don't think Zen do the 1Meg or 2meg any more only a MAXdsl service.

They do do a 1/4Meg (250) service that has no caps but wont be very fast X5 Dialup.

Your original post said cheap and Zen are not cheap so I really think you should look around some more.

Here is one I have my eye on : http://www.ukfsn.org/home/internet/adsl/unlimited.html

    The bit I like is:
Our Original ADSL service offers unlimited broadband for a fixed monthly fee with no usage limits, no port blocking, no traffic throttling or shaping.

Orginal ADSL is available at a choice of 512kb/s, 1Mb or 2Mb download speeds with a fixed upload speed of 256Kb/s. There is an option to have this based upon a MAX connection in which case the download speed is fixed with the upload speed being rate adaptive up to 448kb/s* for the same price

Download Speed Upload Speed Monthly Price
    512K 256K £23.50
    1Mb 256K £29.99
    2Mb 256K £35.24
    Up to 8Mb Up to 448K £79.99

    All prices include VAT.

    But again not cheap.

We rang them up and they also have a £40 activation fee. So we are noe going to go with Orange Broadband!

There is only an activation fee if you are NOT migrating from another broadband supplier.

I'm with zen but www.newnet.co.uk are good too and a little cheaper. Both of these are monthly contracts too with UK call centers.

personally I wouldn't go near orange.
