  • Well after panicking over nothing today I happily opened my post to find a letter from some company telling me they could over turn my BR and they had gotten my info from public records do these twits read all about new BRs? Just chucked it in the bin, going BR is not a thing I regret.

Having my review call tomorrow with my OR, she seems really nice. I asked if there were likely to be any problems or issues, and she responded as though I had asked if the moon was made of custard :) It's tough to think this way, as it's such a big deal for me, but this is small fry for the OR and the companies involved compared to a lot of what they do.

Looks like I've managed to switch my BB and phone to Sky (where I am an existing TV customer) from TalkTalk (who have a large debt listed in my BR). I was worried that TT would refuse to hand over the service, but it looks like they have no choice. I've not been able to make outgoing calls for over a month, which has been a pain.

Just had my official call with the OR. She was great, but I found it very hard as my spending over the last 12 months has been dreadful, and I'm incredibly ashamed of how I've lived my life. I've been struggling with alcoholism, and am only in the early stages of recovery (I'm in my longest dry patch for years), but I was out of control in the last year.

But the OR was great, very kind, non judgmental, and told me there should be no issues, though she does need to investigate things (that's their job after all). Glad it's over now, and she is going to get the report out to my creditors.

  • Well 21 days in to my BR, Ive calmed down, sorted out my bills, set up my DDebits now Coop Cashminder accounts have been cleared for use by OR.

Barclays Bank have said I can use my Card Account with them, but no telephone or internet banking...

Still trying to find out how I stand with HAssociation re there attempt to reclass my bungalow as 2 bedroomed instead of a 1 bedroom bungalow, Im fighting this one tooth and nail.

Whilst I love where I live it is kind of isolated, and now I cant afford a car anymore and have to rely on public transport...one bus out of village in the morning only on schooldays and one bus back on schooldays its expensive at £5 a time and you have to wait from 9.30am when you get into next big town till 3.00 pm till they do the return journey and your stuffed in school holiday times.
A taxi one way costs £8.00 to £9.00 depending on which taxi company you use and on an income of £71 thats not a journey I do too often,

I would like to do a mutual exchange via the Homeswapper site, have had some people interested but so far I have not approached HAssociation to see if that would be possible.

I manage with home delivery shopping from Asda and sometimes friends call and take me out and I contribute towards the petrol but cant afford that too often:(.

I live on the edge of a lovley village with fields on 3 sides and in a row of 5 bungalows, totally peaceful so this would be grabbed if a swap would be sanctioned.
Thing is my next move has to be thought out very carefully from so many angles, financially viable? near shops, doctor etc?
decent area and neighbours? and public transport etc... so much to consider.

During the bad weather a few weeks ago we were cut off for just over a week, as Im the end bungalow the snow blew over the fields and I had 5 foot drifts in my my back and front and side gardens:eek::eek: thankfully no power cuts and the central heating worked fine, but it made me realise if the electric had gone off Id have been in a right pickle.
I always keep a storecupboard and camping gas stove etc thanks to picking tips up of the Old S:Dtyle Boards...

Even moving could be out of my grasp, I may need new carpets:o:o and have:o no spare pennies for those, and removal fees or van hire am saving my pennies :rotfl:.

Well wont worry about it till it happens, but can put a little bit away each week, and keep fingers crossed.

I wont need much, if any, new furniture just maybe curtains if windows are different sizes but will worry about all of that when it happens.

Im busy working my way through the clutter and the junk that came with me when I moved here, my friend and I hope to do a bootsale in the May holidays..:T

Im very optimistic now about the future, last week I was doom and gloom but am feeling a bit more positive now...

So Im into nearly my first month of BR do I regret going BR..absolutely not, so if your thinking about it, get the correct advice if its the right thing for you to do and make that fresh start....I did.

    Warmest wishes to all x

Glad to hear you are calming down NewStart. 11 days in, I'm just trying to keep calm and sort out the things I can. I have some issues with a payday loan company that is STILL taking money whenever I have more than a tenner in my account, and I've been in contact with them all over this weekend to sort that out. Hopefuly they will confirm today that they will take no more (and they said they would refund me). Makes it tough to set up DD on my Co-op account as I can't afford to have DDs not being made because some company keeps mugging my account!

Still, life seems to be a heck of a lot rosier after BR, I know these issues will resolve, and my OR seems to be great. She says there should be zero issues, so it's all good. Now to find a new job.......

A friend of mine had something similar happen to her when she had a payday loan through W@ngrrraaaa

She was told to write to them and tell them she was withdrawing her continuous payment authority and to put this in writing to the Coop too.
She took a copy of the letter to the Coop branch she uses, phoned the 08457212212 number and said she was withdrawing W@ngrrrass right to a continuous payment under some regulation we found on here, perhaps there's reference to it on a forum post re continuous payments.

She also sent a recorded delivery letter with above info to W@ngrrrass head office and to the Coops head office address, following up the Coops letter with a phone call to make sure it was on there system.

There are certain regulations you have to quote will try and find the relative post and link it.

As you have gone BR this shouldn't be happening, maybe sending a copy of your BR notice and number recorded delivery to the payday loans head office address.

Also report them to your OR....

One thing Im going to do once I am discharged from BR is see if I can train in debt advice, it makes me so:mad: that some companies harass and intimidate folk when there at there lowest financial wise.

And to my own personal troll there but for the grace of god go you, I hope you never find yourself in a bad financial position through no fault of your own....be good enough to at least post openly on a forum to me, otherwise go forth and whatever.....sorry folks.

Hey no negativity, I hit rock bottom so the only way is up....so folks if they try to make you feel guilty look them straight in the eye and smile, even, if in your mind you have already clonked them on the hooter, walk away, those types normally have there own financial complications to sort out but won't seek help like we did.

Here endeth my sermon for today so will get off my soapbox and go do the washing up....good vibes to all xxxxx

My BR is taking place on 19th April. I am experiencing all sorts of emotions and I think my friends are sick to death of hearing me ramble on about it. I'm do grateful for this board as its been my sanctuary! I feel like I am about to be reborn. I don't even know what I'll moan about after Friday as I have talked about being in debt for so many years its become part of me. I guess I will eventually experience what life is really like without a black cloud hanging over me daily.

Hi Suggi, I've taken your name off the April BR Club and added you to May's
