I get Toyo Proxes T1-S in 205/40 R17 shape, as I run large wheels, so need lower profile tyres to compensate. I got my last set for £55 a corner delivered to me at work by 24 hour courier. This wasn't through mytyres though, but a local Somerset firm who are a Toyo specialist. Even though £55 is cheap rhe Toyo Proxes is a GOOD performance tyre with aggressive "V" tread pattern and excellent grip in dry, and rain dispersion in the wet. Also makes the car look the dogs dangles. Think I have a pic somewhere. Indeed I do.... :D

Those wheels look like Kahn RSRs. If theyre not what are they?

I've also got 205/40 R17's on my car atm (Pug 306 XLDT), and they're rapidly losing tread.
Atm i'm looking around for various possible replacements, was the price you mention above for them fitted? Do the site have a website do you know...

Anybody got suggestions on places to look, preferably in the south east

    cheers,

Ive been shopping round for tyres and was quoted anything between £30-£55 per tyre inc fitting and balancing.

I went for a local place that charged £40 p/tyre and it was only when he was half done when he said "would you like the tracking done?" Im not very good at this stuff so I asked how much and he replied £25!!! Never told me that when I was given a fully inclusive qoute!!!

Am I gonna get probs if i dont get the tracking done?? What is it?

To be fair to your tyre supplier, kaaloo, it would not normally be expected to include tracking in the price of tyres, even an "all-in" price, although fitting, new valve, wheel balance, disposing of your old tyre and VAT would be. This is, presumably, because while the latter items are more or less essential on fitting a new tyre, tracking isn't; it is only really necessary if the front tyres are worn on their inner or outer edges of the tread; however, it isn't a bad idea to get the tracking checked whenever the front tyres are replaced.
What I would take issue with is the cost; the garage where I work only charges £12 for this (inc. any adjustments and VAT).
I'm sorry if this reply is a bit out of date; being new I'm not sure how long threads last, etc.

Another vote here for mytyres.co.uk. A very different experience in tyre purchase. No scruffy oik calling you mate, and a great link to the customer review facility. Ended up with what looks like an excellent pair of tyres at 60% of what Q/F wanted for a pair of very average tyres. Funnily enough, on the 'phone, Q/F were very helpful on product selection!

Mytyres even accepted my Amex so suppose I could also factor in my cashback!!!!??

Last week I used valuetyres.co.uk I was happy with the service but the tyre
fitting centre I used decided to not fit for them anymore so I went to blackcircles.com and not only did he pricematch but beat the price and a fitter was only half a mile away. Some of the deals at national don't look bad but they do say they will charge for balancing and valve.

Can anyone recommend any 'not too expensive' 185/60 R14 tyres?

    That's amazing Chris - I can't see Contis for less than £44.40 on there now - and that's T rated - or £49.10 for H rated. :(

The price seems to go up and down. I spotted them at £30, went to order them the next day and they'd gone up. 2 weeks later a colleague said they're back to £30 - got home to order and they'd gone back up again. A month later my MOT was due so I checked again and they were £30 so I ordered them on the spot. Also hence the 2 spare ones.

Ah, thanks for that tip, Chris. I wouldn't have expected that level of price variation - so as you say, well worth stocking up. :)
