Secret Orange customer saver deal.

If you are already an Orange Broadband Starter customer then here's some advice on how to get a NON ADVERTISED deal that will save you at least £60 a year. I have never had any problems with Orange so decided to see what they would offer me if I decided to move my money elsewhere!

Just like Sky TV, most boroadband suppliers don't like to lose their customers. Orange Broadband (formerly Wannadoo, formerly Freeserve) just offered me a deal when I phoned up to "cancel" my broadband and get my MAC code(Migration Auth Code). I currently pay £14.99 for the starter package and my year is just up, so rather than switch they have offered me:-

1. A £5 a month reduction for a year. So £9.99 a month for Broadband
2. Free Wireless equipment
3. A "box" that will give me free evening and weekend calls

All at NO extra charge to myself and a yearly saving of at least £60

Not bad for a morning's work.

Call them on 0870 010 2462 then select option 1 then 4 and ask for the "Customer Care Team", then say you want your MAC code and the reason you want to leave is because it is costing too much.

Will let you know any more info on this deal if I can get it.

Cheers

** Update**

Just got Orange to clarify some of the details on this Retention Package. The pack is called the 9.99+ pack. Speed up to 8mb depending on your line. 2gb download a month limit. 12month contract with NO cooling off period. The free evening and weekend telephone calls are available to 01 and 02 landlines only between 6pm and 8am Mon-Fri and 6pm Fri - 8am Monday.

It takes about 5 days from activation to get your new free eqipment.

  • Like Garleon, I decided that I was paying too much for Orange broadband (£17.99 month for 1MB, 2GB). Last month I phoned CS and asked for my MAC code as I was thinking of going to Sky. I was offered the £9.99/month 8MB, 2GB package with a Live box (6 month contract), and they gave me a month's usage of my current package free to think about it. Had my free month then rang back on Sunday to check a couple of the details of the package, and this time they offered me the same deal but for a 12 month contract with the first 6 months free of charge i.e. total of £59.94 for the next year. It seems like a good deal, so I have decided to take them up on it.

You keep slagging Orange off, but I have just transferred to them and I am very happy with their performance, my speeds are better than I was getting with Eclipse, their customer service has been good as well.

I am now getting a 12 month free line rental mobile and bb with the Livebox, so free anytime calls plus free international calls plus free calls to Orange mobiles for £5 per month
  • To be honest, I have never had any problems with Orange, their predecessor Wannadoo or even Freeserve for that matter. I have had the same e-mail address for just over 10 years now and always had good deals and service. I changed to broadband just over a year ago and while friends have had problems with Tiscali, Talk Talk, BT and Bulldog, I haven't had ANY with Orange/Wannadoo.

Who knows, maybe I have just been lucky!

Will let you all know how I get on with my wireless router and all the other parts when they arrive.

I am so glad that I found this link. I have been paying Orange £17.99 for a long time. Just called their CS as instructed by Garleon, I am now offered £9.99 to keep my live box and have my speed up to 8MB (9 months contract). I am ever so pleased. Thank you all very much!
  • i did exactly the same as garleon aand threatened to move to sky , asked for a mac code and was offered the " unpublished" £9.99 month deal with free live box etc about two months ago.
i have been with freeserve/wanadoo/orange for about 4 years and never had any problems just wanted to save some££££. but had heard bad reports about the live box.
so i accepted the offer pay less and carried on with my old broadband modem and everything is fine, the livebox is still in its box in the cupboard!!
so you can get the good price but without all the hassel of using/ installing the live box.

I want to thank you. Read your info on orange and did exactly as you said and yes, got the deal. 9.99 straight off, no haggling. Delighted. I did want to stay with them as like you not had any real problems it was the price.
  • Discovered this before reading the thread when I phoned up to cancel my ISP account after many years - paying £17.99 for 0.5MB connection - upgraded to "8 MB" (I get 5MB but on a long line from the exchange so not bad) for £9.99 - can't be bad & well worth a phone call even on so called "local call rate". :rotfl:

This looks like a good deal but what happens if you have the free broadband with mobile phone contract over £35. Can you still haggle for discounts ?
