  • This forum is about giving advice to those who need it.

There's no point discussing how the OP ended up in this situation. She doesn't have a time machine to go back and make different decisions.

For anyone who wants to vent about benefits, there are plenty of articles on other sites where you can leave comments for like minded people to agree with you.

On the other hand, as this board is for "advice", not discussions about benefits and benefits policy -
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/365935 - and the team also say this - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2718581 - maybe there are other more appropriate places to make your comments.

Still accessed via the "Forum" , its a sub section..... Pedantic but factual..

What some see as criticism others see as advice and thats the great thing about the human race, we all have the ability to think and have differing emotions.

Just sticking to the facts the OP has been very fortunate to have received more in benefits than many earn before tax and they need to cut back on spending.

RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

£1500 per month is not too small an amount to live on for a family of seven.

The OP must be congratulated for getting rid of the scrote of a husband. But as you had the strength to do that you have the resourcefulness to adjust to your new circumstances. If you are nearing completion of your bankruptcy then you have had no debt so you have had £2000 or more every month to live on for many years (and 100% of your housing and 100% of your 75% of council tax has been paid). You have no excuse to be in difficulty.

It will not be easy to adjust to live on a few hundred pounds less per month but it is not impossible. If there are complications that are not accounted for then, OP, you have to explain what these are. But your headline summary of the situation is only going to receive shrugs unless you clarify where problems lie.

All forums when in admin you can look at the IP of the poster.

It still does not stop persistent trolls though because there are numerous ways for people to mask their IP and many IP's are not static either. Experienced trollers know all the ways around it!!!

Anyone will know that has run a message board, the only way to stop posts that come outside of rules is pro-active moderation and that is very time consuming and time is money.

If the owners don't enforce their own rules, then it's a free for all or every post would have to be complained about individually. The anti benefits brigade know this which is why they are so dominent on this part of the fourm.

I would never recommend this sub-section to anyone who really needed help on benefits. They can get much less judgemental advice elsewhere. Having said that it's clear many of those aledgedly seeking advice are trolling but many are not.

Check the bankruptcy board - A couple who's only income is from benefits think that £500 a month on groceries for two people, is normal.

I read that thread too. Two people (no kids) getting nearly 29k in benefits - their only income.

Bankruptcy is the UK's biggest joke.

And as someone else said on here once, being Judgemental is the only sin on the benefits board.

If it was true because I can't see how you would get 29k disposable income with no kids?!!

It was a troll but then they add to the cause don't they?

Disability benefits mount up add carers for each other. I saw the thread too and they don't have to pay towards debts as on benefits so run up as much as you want and go bankrupt.
