Wow wish this site was moderated better, some of the insults that keyboard warriors throw are so pathetic.
About time ISP numbers were logged so bans could be thrown at some of these 'Wannabe' judges.

More than I get working full time. No sympathy here "We" haven't done anything - you are the one who chose to have 6 children despite not being able to afford them yourself, instead relying on the state to provide for them.
You are claiming through choice - you chose to have 6 children, and chose to claim benefits to support them.
If you are indeed affected by the benefit cap it means you are still going to get £26000 a year...TAX FREE. I would hardly call that poverty. If you change nothing, nothing will change!!0 -
I do sincerely sympathise in that losing a big chunk of money is a very stressful change to manage, whatever the income. So I can understand your feeling of panic. However, realistically, if you are as troubled as you claim in your first post, something isn't right as even with what we have gathered you are entitled to, you have no reason not to be able to provide the basic to your children and yourself.
It therefore really comes down to your lifestyle and choices you've made. Are you struggling because of previous debts? You need to sit down, maybe getting some help in gaining control over your budget and what changes you will need to make so not to get into debts/further debts.0 -
It is a lot of money to loose, but realistically it is more than a lot of smaller working families get to live on, with a bit of budgeting, and possible relocation to a cheaper area it should be manageable though. With Hindsight you have not made the best decisions in life, having 6 children with an abusive partner (I would have done a runner before No. 1 personally!), and now you are paying the price, and things will only get tougher! be prepared for hard times ahead!0

Whether or not the OP is or is not a troll, is not really the point and does not justify some of the nasty comments that people leave not only on this thread but right throughout MSE or any other forums out there.
Constructive criticism is one thing but people are too keen on jumping on the bandwagon and bashing people on benefits.
I personally do not believe that most people set out to make life on benefits a lifestyle choice. Some maybe but mostly no, many people do end up trapped in a life on benefits but that does not mean they deserve all the harsh comments that come their way.
Be careful who you kick on the way up because you will have to meet these people again on the way back down..............0 -

You probably didn't notice but each time you log on the site you click the "Forum" button. A "Forum" is a place of debate, if you want to know what "debate" means google it...
You could send an e-mail to the moderators asking them to change from "Forum" to something like " fluffy advice shop".
Personally I prefer the "warts and all" approach.0 -
With the new capped rates, it means that people on non-working benefits won't be able to afford luxuries but feeding and clothing 6 children could be done cheaply.
You need to write down all your outgoings, meal plan, get rid of any luxuries, sky, smoking, drink etc and pull back to the bone. If you're getting free school dinners for the children, then they should only need something light in the evening, like a sandwich or something on toast or soup etc. Or if something heavier is needed, there are loads of cheap meals to be made for literally pennies.
There is Freegle or Freecycle where you can ask for clothing or other bits you need and many other frugal places to buy stuff from.
Really not a lot you can do but budget and be grateful for what you have rather than what you don't have. I don't mean to be harsh.

You probably didn't notice but there's a big sticky at the top of this particular board

'Its about helping people get their entitlement! Not about benefits policy!
This board is here for help and support for those on or looking to claim benefits, not for judgement.
It’s ONLY focus is helping people with their money.'Your greatness is measured by your kindness; your education and intellect by your modesty; your ignorance is betrayed by your suspicions and prejudices, and your real caliber is measured by the consideration and tolerance you have for others.

On the other hand, as this board is for "advice", not discussions about benefits and benefits policy -
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/365935 - and the team also say this - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2718581 - maybe there are other more appropriate places to make your comments.0 -
If you choose not to pay your council tax then don't worry about it too much. They'll get a liability order. You then start negotiations with council to pay the council tax direct from your benefit at a rate of £3.60 a week. You will not be going to prison for not paying your council tax.
Also bearing in mind that there is no requirement for the council to use an attachment of benefit order. They may simply instruct a bailiff.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
