I've only been away one day and it's taken me ages to catch up with you all.
Dementia. My deepest sympathies to anyone who is dealing with this evil disease. I knew with my head, but never really accepted in my heart that my Mum didn't have the slightest clue who I was, or even that she had ever had a daughter, or even been married. When Dad apprised her of that last fact she said in bewilderment, "When did that happen?"
5:2 diet: Well done those who have just started it. I've found the trick is to drink lots of water, black coffee etc and if you feel that you are desperate to eat clean your teeth immediately. It all helps. I speak with a good 60 years of trying to lose weight behind me!
Judi: This is scary. If you haven't done so already I would be separating all my financial affairs from his at once or sooner. Closing joint accounts, anything in joint names etc. I don't think you should ever be held responsible for things going pear-shaped due to someone else's irresponsibility.
Yesterday our nun friend came to lunch and tucked into her soup and bread with enjoyment. When offered the rhubarb crumble and custard she hesitated for a nanosecond before accepting joyfully. Mind you, I don't think she is your typical nun. She said herself that she is expecting to be excommunicated before too long. Such a lovely person who does the most enormous amount of good in the world.
I'm not supposed to be here. I have a church magazine to write and publish before Saturday, and I'm out all day tomorrow. I rather think that it may be an all-nighter.

Oh I do love this sort of religious person - we once had a parish priest who would stand outside Saturday evening mass and shake everyone's hand, and still be first at the bar in the neighbouring catholic club when they opened 5 minutes after the end of mass! And at my little brother's christening, one of my older brothers was on drinks duty with a tray, offered our elderly parish priest a glass of whisky and swears the priest put down an empty glass and picked up another as he said "Thank you Nicholas". as if he'd inhaled it!0 -
Who in the right mind would quit a £16 an hour job to take on one that pays £6 an hour? Well thats what my husband says he will do if he gets the job that pays £6 an hour.
"How will you pay your £500 a month loan?" asks me when he revealed his plan.
"Stuff it" was his answer.
Does he hate his current job? I have had a job that I TRULY hated. It paid well but, as with all things in life, you don't get something for nothing. I was permanently stressed, not sleeping, having palpitations, felt so very alone and unliked (it was a position in authority). In the end I decided that my life, my health and the quality of my life were worth far more than the pay-packet at the end of the month. I left and I've never looked back.
Perhaps your husband is feeling the same way? Although, at first reading, the "stuff it" does sound unreasonable/immature, could it have been said as a knee-jerk reaction to his perceived lack of support from you? Perhaps when the dust settles he may have an action plan?
Please don't pounce on me - I'm just trying to provide another viewpoint that may (or may not) balance the equation - you know him better than any of us so will know if he is usually irresponsible or sensible. The best advice I can give you is (as with all things in a marriage) talk it through when you've both calmed down and see what he has to say - perhaps he's already worked everything out?.Lightbulb moment: -£9,954.31 Current Debt: £0

I once lodged in a nunnery in Oxford. One of the nuns used to don her helmet and sail through the Oxford traffic with her robes and head piece flowing behind her. Wonderful xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Floss and Molly: I live with one of those. Not for nothing is her internet user name 'wackyrev'. Her CV makes interesting reading, ranging from 'electrician's mate' to 'cabaret artist'.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Oh, and speaking of christenings, she once had a crowd of children at a christening who were clustered round the font and running some toys round it. When one of the toys fell in the font she fished it out, said "I baptise you Thomas the Tank Engine" and handed it back to it's owner.

I have no doubt he'll go through with it. Its just how long it takes him to realize he's up the creek without a paddle that worries me.0

Thank you for that Molly, I played it twice and was covered in goose bumps. :T0 -

LOl Wonderful! THIS is the kind of person that we need not just in the Church but in life as well. Just because you're spiritual doesn't mean you starch your knickers and suck on lemons all the time. God intended us to laugh as well as pray......
Well won't be being sorted out until Tuesday now.... oh and the people who give me my work said "and we're not in tomorrow anyway". Oh thanks for telling me that when I put down tomorrow as being "available" last week LOL Soooo, I have just had a little declutter in the en suite and the kitchen so they look a bit better. Little and often as anything else shatters me for the next day at the moment. Caught up with Superscrimpers Challenge as well on demand. Got a couple of good ideas but some of them were "and people need to be told that" and a couple frankly "why?"...... :rotfl:
Ah well have tomorrow off as well now.....But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
Hi Guys!
Have just had a great result with Mr T and their lamb joints. I had ordered 1 leg of lamb for monday as we have guests and 4 x half legs for roasts for us 3 and some to freeze in gravy. Anyway, they didn't have any half legs, so gave me 4 full legs and price matched, saving me £16.75. So got 4 full leg of lambs for silly cheap. Now have 5 full legs:rotfl::eek::eek::eek: I love it when things like this happens and they aren't fatty either. Utilised loads of deals with the voucher they sent me and did very well:D
OH had an interview screening session this afternoon to do a SEN course to go along with his BSL 2, first aid and fire marshall, social behavioural sciences etc as he would like to work with deaf and disabled children. Anyway, good news is, he got 1 of the 12 places:j:j:j:j:j He was the only guy there and apparently loads applied but an initial interview had already taken place and he had been shortlisted. Very proud of him. Work is slow atm, so he needs to keep all options open.
The garden is looking good, but is costing a small fortune with the bark stuff. We need another few bags, so in all would have cost about £110. It does look great though and very low maintenance which is what we need.
For dinner we are having baked spud with tuna, mayo and sweetcorn as none of us are really hungry. Have a chicken out for tomorrow, but it may go in the freezer if we decide on Fish and Chips.
Take care.
