Hi Lindsloo
You're doing so well! You've made me feel all inspired to keep up with my plans to pay off debt :T I'm only at the start of my journey, but you've already made such progress
Keep up the hard work!!

Thank you so much 32b32013 and kickuptheasstime, your positive messages mean a lot and have given me a huge boost.
MSE is such a great motivator, I don't feel very positive at the moment but my thread subscriptions and this diary keep me focused even if I have a little moan along the way.
So today I am resting as I have to do 2 night shifts, tonight and tomorrow. Bit unlucky having to work a Friday and Saturday night but hey ho.
My DF list of things today include,
Post ebay items via Royal Mail and Collect Plus
Cash 4 clothes
Drop off timesheets to third job
Take girls to Hobby Craft to do some arts and crafts for £1.50 each.
I've had to spend buying 2 ink cartridges for my printer today but saved half price buy buying online and using compatible inks rather than brands.
I've got right back into my sewing again, OH had a massive rip in bum of his work joggers so I stitched it back up MSE style. Really pleased with the job I did, it's good to find something that I'm good at again, being in debt can sometimes leave me feeling useless and a failure. It's nice that something so simple as a neat repair to a pair of joggers has given me a boost in self esteem.
While I'm at hobby craft today I'm going to pick up a pair of small knitting needles, I've done well at trying knitting again but the scarf looks terrible because I've used huge needles. I'm also going to pick up a ball of white wool and a crochet hook to have a go at a granny square blanket. OH's brother is expecting a baby in July, I would love to be able to make something that baby can keep forever.
It's going to be a very money saving weekend as I'll either be in the hospital or asleep. Suppose it's one way to save money lol.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.0 -
The blanket sounds lovely, I made my friend's son a quilt with his name embroidered onto it in silver thread when he was born (he is 14 now) and it was handed down to his brother when he was born (even with the wrong name on it!!) It's been at least 10 years since I've picked up a crochet hook, I'm going to make a granny square blanket all in white. Can't wait 32b3.
Hi hiddenidentity, lovely to have you here. Thank you so much for your well wishes, I will report straight here when I get the news.
Change of plan for the weekend, my youngest is poorly with a raging temperature so I had to leave work before midnight. She's still not right this morning so have cancelled tonight as well. Gutted as I will lose the unsociable hours supplement on my wage but kids come first.
Good point is I was able to transfer all ebay profit over which cleared the Very account £453 PAID. So next target is to clear CC2 by the end of May, current balance is approx £1900.
Now I've mended OHs joggers I'm on the hunt for bits with a hole in. I've found DD1s school sweater which she has shredded round the sleeves, had forgotten all about it as was considering binning it but this morning I sat with little person and repaired the jumper. That's saved £25 MSE style.
My mum is amazing with making things, she is my driving force behind wanting to get crafty again because she can literally make anything. She's made me a knitting bag, I refused to pay £25 for one in HC so I asked her to make me one with some gorgeous material she had spare. Can't wait to pick it up later
It will be a very MSE weekend as every penny has gone on clearing Very.
Am soooooooo pleased with my progress. Letter will be posted out by Monday telling them to close credit account and mark as so on credit file.
I doubled my debt repayment this week on gas and electric repayment meters, one of the few lovely presents left behind by the ex. Instead of paying it back at the minimum I'm going to pay them both back at £12 a week so they're paid by the end of the summer.
So I'm logging off now to do a victory dance in the living room, bye xx0 -
:j:j another one paid
Hope little one is better soon there seems to be alot going round. Don't think the strange weather is helping!0 -
Such a great feeling, 2 / 5 paid.
DD2 is a lot better but she looks awful, all chapped lips and snotty nosed lol.
I don't know if anyone else is like this but everyday I'm thinking about how I can make changes and save money. After a bit of research I have swapped prepayment meters over to British Gas, I didn't think I could move with the debt but apparently BG will take over the debt. I have decided though that with my overtime I will make payments over the telephone to get the debt down.
I have opened up an Isa and 25% of extra / over income will be saved in here up to £1000 for an emergency fund. If anything breaks down I would be stuffed and I need to avoid the temptation of borrowing.
My car insurance is costing me a small fortune, £60.13 per month to be exact. For comprehensive cover with everything on, 6 years no claims for a policy valued at £550 I'm paying £60.13 over 10 months plus the deposit I had to pay at the beginning.
I'm annoyed but I had to go with this insurer, I lost all my no claims because I was a named driver on exes policy, they agreed to give me his NCB if I stayed with them so have had to take one for the team on this.
I will have the last laugh though, OH is very anti-borrowing so we have discussed me getting a 0% purchase credit card for the insurance only, then cutting it up and paying back over 2 months. Not before I have used the MSE comparison guide and cashback sites to get the lowest possible insurance price. I am nervous about borrowing but refuse to pay over 25% for an insurance policy, being open about the card have changed my intentions on how to manage this borrowing. I have a couple of months to think about this though before I have to commit but I know I can't keep paying large monthly payments for car insurance.
Today I posted my last eBay item. I'm waiting on the car seat to be collected, today or tomorrow. It's being paid in cash which will go straight in the tin.
I have an extra large cash tin that everything but coppers goes into, the girls share the coppers into their tins. I have vowed not to open it until its full, it's currently half way. Every year for Christmas the girls get tins from the poundshop and are encouraged to save throughout the year, they get to open their tin over the festive period where they can use up to half to treat themselves and the rest goes into their savings.
I took our old bits up to cash for clothes, only got £2 for the bag but its better than nothing and went straight into the tin.
I did a bit of gardening yesterday, going to do a bit more today but have 2 shifts in a row from tomorrow so can't go mad. Hopefully tomorrow I will get an answer on the secondment, the wait is driving me nuts.0 -
Today my secondment has been confirmed in writing, I GOT IT woooooooooooop!!!!!!!!
Im doing overtime, I was crying, heaving, hyperventilating lol. I'm so made up that I got this far, I have been grilled apprentice style. There is a clause in the letter that says if funding is reduced by the NHS department who pays out then it may be revoked even up to the point after the uni interview and them offering me the place.
My MSE training has made me cautious of small print and clauses like this but I'm still sooooo happy.
No more grumbling about overtime, it's time to slap a smile on and get the debt paid off.0 -

What's the biblical saying about The Lord giveth and The Lord taketh away?
The day after receiving the news about the secondment, on Wednesday while I was at work I was burgled. They took mine and other halfs laptop, his iPad. Mine and my 3yos savings tin.
Everyone keeps telling me it could be worse, they could have trashed the house or we could have been in and they might have hurt us but it doesn't make me the slightest but better. I feel physically sick from the violation and vulnerability. Not for me but my house and my children, if I ever find out who they are I would attack them.
It's not just the things they've taken, it's the lost earnings where I've had to cancel overtime shifts. Today my overtime was paid £260, would have made a massive dent in my CC2 but instead I'm using it on purchasing items to turn my house into a prison.
I can't believe that I live in a time where people can do this to one another. I live in a suburban area, it's not near anything so as they were on foot they probably live close by. !!!!!!!s.
This is a huge knock to my confidence and my advice to anyone is turn your house into fort knocks now, don't wait until they rob your house. The psychological damage is worse than the items they've taken.
No money saving or debt payments this week0
