Today I have made some positive steps.
I've transferred to the 123 account, to get cashback on all those lovely bills I pay out. It's also a sad day because my little baby has outgrown her car seat, good news is the base sold for £80!! I've relisted the carseat with a few tweaks so it gets more views so that will give me over £100 for CC2 after fees.
Today I have bought a new laptop in preparation for uni after some !!!!er stole the last one from the house. I'm ashamed to say that it's gone on CC2 which I have now cut up, lesson learnt though I will never EVER not have my house insured.
I'm itching to find ways to cut down the household bills. Had some good news that the little ufix contract I got out for DD1 is 12 months not 2 years so I can cancel that in 4 months - hello giffgaff. My contract is also up in March, hello again giffgaff. I can get both of us better packages for £25 a month on DDs - YES PLEASE.
I found Aldi's today (not that it was lost). It's been a few weeks since I've had a good shop so was expecting it to be expensive. I spent £23 in there which would have been double if I'd gone for even my usual cheap supermarkets. I shop between 3 main high streets, I'm not going to be a snob anymore, it's Aldi's all the way and then if I know I can get some of the bits I need cheaper elsewhere I will pick them up as I pass back through to home.
I need to go lie down now with a bucket until the nausea subsides on the amount of money I've spent today.0 -
I'm trying to go green fingered.
My mum is amazing with growing things so I want to follow in her footsteps. Spending £5 I bought a long planter and 3 strawberry plants, Mum has let me steal some of her veg compost and horse manure to make a new home for them. I'm so proud of them that they're currently taking pride of place on the garden table. She's taught me how to take off the runners for extra plants, I feel like an expert lol.
I also have potatoes on the kitchen window sill, chitting. When they're ready to go I will get them planted.
This is the first time in the 10 years of living away from home that I have ever owned a plant.
I also managed to pick myself up a brand new compost bin for free on freecycle, really chuffed, just have to work out what to put in it without attracting rats.
Also on my make do and mend mission, OHs mum gave me 2 really nice pair of matching curtains but they're too short for my huge bay window I have so I'm going to add an extra panel at the top and turn them into tab tops as they have the plastic loops. All for free as mum has set up my old bedroom as a sewing room.0 -
Another positive step today. Been accepted for another 0% balance transfer for 26 months as recent purchases for car and laptop on cc2 won't be 0%. Can start relaxing as the stress from worrying about apr was taking over.
Need to measure up bedroom windows and make a start on those curtains. Started on the compost bin last night, all my greens and brown waste in there. House is tidy and home affairs are in order. With nothing else to do I might start reading a book for fun while I still have the chance.0 -
Ok so my book of choice is the student nurse guide lol. It's a nice easy read though, nothing heavy.
Even though I still have 11 months on my tv/internet/phone package I phoned them up today, was getting on my nerves about how much I was paying for the little I get in return as I was on pretty much the basic. They have reduced the tv package down to freeview (rarely watch tv) which has saved me £10 a month, they have also removed the paying caller display for a free version of exactly the same thing that comes for free.
A happy money saving day for me today. Shopping bill came to more as usual but it was for all the picnic bits on Saturday for a trip to the seaside if it's still nice, that way we don't have to buy anything as we'll have it all with us.0 -
So my secondment is official, I have my induction next week and officially start 4 weeks tomorrow. I am sooooooo excited.
Because they bought the secondment start forward by 6 months I haven't hit my target so have had to change them to make them more realistic.
CC2 £1950 - pay off by June 2014
Bad Loan £3000 - save money by 2016 to do a full and final offer
Car £5000 - last payment is May 2016
I'm enjoying these summer holidays as life is going to be jam packed for the next few years and spare time will be like gold dust.0 -
I realised that I can log into cc2 online and reduce the limit which was at 2750, have taken it down to 1950. I've done tonnes of overtime in the last couple of weeks and will pay another £300 tomorrow.
So frustrating that a month a go the card was at 1300 but had to use it again and run it back up to 2200. I'm a regular on the 1 debt vs 100 days challenge, I will aim to clear as much as poss if not all on the next challenge which should start around 1 Sept.
Finally started transferring everything over to the new 123 account, looking forward to getting cashback on those boring bills.
I'm so pleased with how many little debts I've managed to get rid of. I was overpaid last year when I dropped from full time to part time and the final repayment will be taken from my wages at the end of this month, that will give me an extra £50 a month.
Feels good that I can count my debts on 1 hand.0 -
This is my last week of freedom before I begin my nursing on Monday:eek:.
I'm off for a walk to the shops to pick up a notepad.
Even though I haven't paid everything off, I'm so pleased with how I've done considering they brought the start date forward and all the other bits that have cropped up which have stopped me paying bits off. I have had around 8 different debts to clear throughout the year and I'm finally down to 3 which is manageable. Am looking forward to the winter when I can start hermiting again and get serious amounts paid off.
The last balance transfer card I applied for a month ago accepted me then rejected me??? I was accepted for another last week and am making arrangements to get it all switched.
So my new figures are:
CC2 - £1670
Bad loan - £3000
Car - £5000
Target is
CC2 to be cleared by August 2014
Save £1500 for moving house as this rental is going up for sale in the summer, if a landlord buys it then the £ can go towards f&f for bad loan.0 -
So now I am just about to start the 3rd month of my nursing degree. I have given up my right to a life for the next 3 years but I love it, I never thought studying could be so much fun :A.
In terms of debt my figures haven't moved much from my last post. CC2 has been switched to a 0% card for 2 years though the plan is to pay it off by June 2014, I'm working extra shifts when I can but the money is going on Christmas presents :xmassmile which are nearly all bought and put away :j.0 -
Hooray, Christmas is over and my money is mine again.:rudolf:
I've had a good result, v media put their price up so I've used the opportunity to cancel and set up internet and phone only for a fraction of the cost. That monthly bill will drop from £38 to £16 .
I only have a few months until the end of my I-phone contract and then I will be switching to a sim only deal. This is something that my heart battles, I talk and text a lot, I have unlimited calls, texts and high internet allowance so PAYG is a big no-no for me, sim only with no phone upgrade is a big compromise. My monthly bill is currently £38, I would like to get it down by £20 but cant for another couple of months. Daughter is doing well on GiffGaff, they're a good network.
In between studying for a huge exam on 6 Jan I am having a massive clear out, lots of bits going to a new home via freecycle. Ridding the house from tonnes of wrapping paper and packaging discreetly.
Eyes are all on the evil CC2 now, balance is currently at £1357.93 and the aim is to get it cleared in the next couple of months by using every spare penny, selling anything that isn't nailed down.
Can't believe I am starting the year with only 3 debts, this is a first in my entire adult life :A. Me and my gorgeous other half are living together, I no longer receive any benefits and we are saving to buy at the beginning of summer.
2013 has been great, 2014 is going to be even better.0
