Will you bake me a Birthday cake for the anniversary of my Owners Direct claim? I'm sure it will get to the full year unresolved 'waiting for merchant' status. Just the one candle this time, but I'll ask again when the second 'Birthday' is due - two candles then.
I used to book quite a few hotel rooms via TCB and other cashback sites, but this is another problematic area. The last one, as above post, is another issue. Owners Direct stats on TCB are abysmal and if they aren't going to be kicked off, then it's unlikely any 'dodgy' merchant will be given the 'red card'! TCB's default status for reviews is 'highest star ratings' first.

Nothing more to be said.
I use direct, point of sale discount codes now found on various voucher code sites for accommodation bookings (when not dealing with an owner direct). A 10% immediate discount is far, far better than a 'possibility' of 11% or even 13% from a cashback site in the far distant future. Check those sites out.
With TCB, I prefer to use them for the financials as due to TCB's FCA status, it's very easy to resolve issues with the 'principal'.
There is a cashback site out there that actually has a cashback guarantee for most merchants, but as it's still a small site, merchants, especially the financials, are limited. Some of their rates actually beat the BIG 2 though. Check them out.

Look for the tick on merchants pages.
If a small cashback site can offer this and without membership fees, why can't the others? No payments from financial products from cash back sites? Put in a complaint direct and if they don't resolve your issue, head straight to the financial ombudsman - it costs the company £550 in referral fees, win or lose.0 -
Definitely: cake promised.

Hey everyone,
@jimroy – The dates in the system are the dates you clicked through if there are different days you need to lodge a claim for the likelihood is you did not use the account you are logged into to click through from.
Happy to double check over all of this if you email me at mse@topcashback.co.uk though.
@BraveHeart – To try and make everything as clear as possible our member-facing status are quite broad and not reflective of all the different processes we have available. I can assure you as soon as we manage to get an outcome for you the team will update you.
Best wishes,

Thank you for that information B_M.
Your posts on this thread -- like those from MSErs such as 2010, Yorkshire Pud, cm7, jpears, bristolleedsfan and others whose contributions I've noted -- have been a model of clarity.
I look forward to the posts on here by the Top Cashback representative achieving that same standard with the same consistency.0 -

Having only recently taken an interest in Top Cashback, it's possible my limited experience of the way your company uses the English language isn't yet up to the task of comprehending that usage.
Despite your best efforts, it's thus unfortunately the case that I haven't understood a word of:
"our member-facing status are[sic] quite broad and not reflective of all the different processes we have available".
Enlightenment would be appreciated, so I'd be much obliged if you could answer the following straightforward questions:
(1) What is meant by the phrase "our member-facing status" and why, as that status is "quite broad", is it nevertheless not "reflective of all the different processes" to which your company has access?
(2) How many "different processes" exist from which your company can at its discretion draw upon one, or many, or all -- and what is the construct of each process such as to differentiate one from another?
Many thanks, and apologies for any inconvenience inadvertently caused.0 -
Hey @hybernia,
The most common statuses you will see are the following ones:
Waiting for Member Action - this is when we are waiting for you to provide or do something with your claim.
Waiting for TopCashback - this means you are waiting for us to do something like reply to you or submit your claim.
Waiting for Retailer - this is when we have submitted your claim for review and are waiting to hear back.
On Hold / On Ice - this is when we have to wait a period of time before we can submit your claim.
Querying - This is raising your claim from the network when we have not been able to resolve your claim within the normal process of submitting for review.
As for how many methods there are to our disposal, If I were to name each one this post that would be a very long post indeed.
The standard way is submitting the information in your claims form to the tracking network, they look at the purchase and reply back.
If they do not reply we may resubmit this using a similar process. Should we not hear back from them or we are not satisfied with the resolution and think we may have a further chance to obtain the cashback we will move on to querying. In addition, there can be an amount of individual chasing for those who we are having difficulties available and in the extremely rare case we still haven't managed to resolve this there are other routes we may pursue.
I do hope this helps.

In response to Matt at post #3954:
Many thanks for the prompt and comprehensive response to my post at #3953.
It was very kind of you to attend so swiftly to the questions I posed; the clarity of the explanation provided is much appreciated.0 -
Anyone else have issues with certain merchants with TCB?
A high value transaction for Opodo hasn't tracked yet again. Last time TCB and Opodo refused payment due to 'as we have not been identified as the last referrer to your transaction' - which was nonsense.
This time Ive had to raise a missing claim and I'm expecting a similar result.
Do other forumites use different cashback websites for certain merchants rather than TCB?0 -
Hey everyone,
@hybernia - I am pleased I could help and offer some clarity on our claims process for you
@veryintrigued - As someone else has been deemed as the company to refer you it may be worth thinking back to what happened the days and hours leading up to your purchase. Did you view any other websites? Did you make some comparisons etc? All these things can attract cookies and can sometimes lead to other companies being paid and not us.
It may be worth trying a different browser just for TopCashback purchases.
Best wishes,

I did a car insurance quote using the TCB comparison function which is powered by Quotezone. I re-did the quote several times because I wasn't sure how much annual mileage I would do, was unsure about the car's value, unsure about my NCB and how long I'd had a licence. I also added and then removed additional drivers and changed my excess amount a few times.
After paying for the best quote from Flux Direct, they call me and start to interrogate me as to why I changed my details several times. It turns out that they have a copy of every quote that I asked for. Another thing they do is say, "Are you really going to use the car just for Social, domestic and pleasure? How do you get to work?" I reply that I use the underground. So they say "how do you get to the station? Do you drive there?"
I think people should be careful using Quotezone - if you're only testing what type of car you should buy that will give a cheap quote then put in a fake name and an address near to your home until you are sure of taking out the quote. Even better, don't use that company - use one of the other comparison sites instead.0
