CRB Criminal Record Check?

Hi,

I like to know how do i check and see if I got a criminal record before I start my ADI career? I did a stupid thing or 2 when I was a teen and just like to know if my record is clean.

Hi, you can't get a CRB for yourself, and doing so may be a crime in itself.

You can make a request under the Freedom of Information Act
A quick googlie search will help you out

The request needs to be made using the Data Protection Act not FOIA as you will be asking for personal data.

Maybe an important point to consider is, would the things you did when you were younger impact your chances of gaining employment in the sector you wish to work?

how much is it for a check?

The employer usually foots the bill for the CRB check. I can't remember the cost.

Also bear in mind that a CRB is not current anymore, it is now a DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service)

If you have a record, you will have it for life - it will never be clean.

Can I do the check myself?

No you cant do an employers CRB check yourself, but you can go into the local police station and ask if they have any information on the police computer about your convictions or cautions etc.
