I have been off work for some time lately with illness, hence taking my shower at various times during the day to suit myself.

Now no matter what, the courier/postman seem to know as soon as I am under the water and hammers on the door, of the numerous hours in a day and its alway the 10 minutes I'm in the shower.

It means a quick grab of the robe and dash to the door otherwise the parcel disappears to some depot in Bulgaria you have to go to get it.

I have discovered that those handheld devices they pretend you have to sign on are in fact remote water meters, they wait out of sight until they detect a couple of minutes of steady water flow to your house then they pounce, ring! ring! knock, knock, ring, ring...

I've tried the "can they redeliver today" approach with a courier company and have been told that they have a set route to follow.

I've also tried picking up from the depot that evening, ony to be told the item is still in the courier's van and cannot be retrieved.

City Link are a company I don't do business with.

ROYAL MAIL did this to us last week. Carded us when we were in. No knock either. Not just DPD

I had this a few years ago with Parcel Force. Ordered a large item and I too listened out for the knock or bell. Lo and behold, found a card through the door, checked the CCTV (we have it on our drive) and it showed the van pulling up, and the driver ran out with the card and put it through the door! No parcel in sight.
I phoned and complained, apparently they had 'no room on the van' so just went round carding all the people saying delivery unsuccessful. The parcel was still at the depot, and the manager drove it to me in his car :)

I think they do that all the time:think:
  • I deliberately don't have tv, radio or music on when expecting a parcel but evenso many is the time I haven't heard a knock. This from RM as well as couriers. Fortunately my dog hears a pin drop so he is my doorbell.

Yes but their phone numbers are 0845=expensive.

Apologies if you tried and there was no number listed, but for future reference.....

Security going into the business park are my doorbell (they'll call to check we're waiting for something)

DPD are always brilliant about this, UK Mail, however, refuse to speak to them 'for reasons of personal security'. Well, it's on the sign going in that we're somewhere in there, so it shouldn't be that difficult to find

Royal Mail are dreadful for this sort of thing. A few years ago, I was renting a flat in London. I had an excellent view of the road and driveway from my bedroom, and an intercom.

On several occasions, I watched the postie walk up the drive and post a 'sorry you were out' note without even bothering to ring the bell. Confronted them on a few occasions, and it turned out they didn't even have my parcel!
