Quiet delivery door knocks

I'm a home-brewer so have lots of dealings with couriers/delivery companies.
Its my experience and that of many of my fellow brewers that DPD are to be avoided. I wont place a second order with any company that uses DPD. Nope. Its also worth noting that none of the best home brew suppliers use DPD to deliver their goods.Mortgage debt - [STRIKE]£8,811.47 [/STRIKE] Paid off!0 -

I had this a few years ago with Parcel Force. Ordered a large item and I too listened out for the knock or bell. Lo and behold, found a card through the door, checked the CCTV (we have it on our drive) and it showed the van pulling up, and the driver ran out with the card and put it through the door! No parcel in sight.
I phoned and complained, apparently they had 'no room on the van' so just went round carding all the people saying delivery unsuccessful. The parcel was still at the depot, and the manager drove it to me in his car

Delivery drivers are often given very tight schedules for making their round of deliveries within set time slots. If they are running late it is quicker to just put a note through the door rather than wait for someone to come to the door, hand over the package and get a signature. The driver might not care that overall it is more effort for their company if the parcel has to be returned and either left at the depot or re-delivered another day, they might not care that it is more inconvenient for the customer nor that it will reflect badly on the company that is using the delivery service for their goods. This has happened quite a few times for me, and it really confuses me. If they've got the parcel, surely it's easier for them to make sure that it's delivered?
It is an example of being measured by targets that are easy to monitor (e.g. the percentage of attempted deliveries made in the right time-slots) but don't actually reflect the overall quality of service (e.g.the percentage of successfully delivered packages).loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
DPD!! :mad:0

Their customer service rep is quite amusing to read in reply to some of the negative reviews posted on Trust Pilot. Zen-like! But yes, no fan of DPD (or Interlink Express).
