Postage charges.

I bought a suit off Ebay and never actually looked at the postage cost (stupid!) when I came to pay the cost was £7.

I messaged the seller asking if it was a mistake as it will cost no more than £3.15 to post. Got a reply saying "that is my price, you got a bargain". I have paid the invoice. Would you be miffed about the overcharge and leave a low star or just chalk it up to experience?

I am not sure which way to go with this as my stars suffered when I was just charging the basic costs so I have had to do free P&P to get them back up. Why should other sellers get away with it? The item was a bargain but.......

Opinions?

Imo you should have looked before bidding. You don't even have the item yet so i'd wait until it arrives to see how much it actually cost before pointing it out to the seller.

Too late now I have asked and got the answer as above! It is silk and will not cost anywhere near that amount to post.

Yes you should have looked if it was a deal breaker.

The postage doesn't appear as you pay, it is there all the time.

Yes, I know that, I just didn't check it. It was only when the invoice came through that I noticed how high it was.

    £3.15? Do you mean £3.50 (750-1000g 2nd class?)

I was thinking 2nd class recorded (up to 750g) which would be very light for a suit.

OP, until you get the suit and weigh it you can't tell how much, if at all, you have been overcharged. If it does turn up at half the costs you paid then mark the p and p stars down a bit, there is nothing else you can do once you have agreed to pay it.

Would probably mark down on communication too

Why? The seller replied didn't he?

    Re This Thread...

All this marking sellers down on stars when it's the buyers fault or you don't happen to like the response (despite the seller responding promptly) is so petty.

If all of the sellers disappear off eBay having been marked down on their stars there won't be any bargains at all so why niggle over such small things? As long as the item arrives and is as described everything else is 'buyer beware'.
