Virgin Money Mortgage Process

  • I'm also waiting for an offer from Virgin Money.
The valuation fee left our account on 22nd August, I chased up the broker (26/09/14)to be told they were awaiting a certificate from our accountant that they sent 12th September.
The accountant hadn't received it! One was emailed to him Tuesday, had confirmation from him that he returned it to VM yesterday, so now the waiting starts again.
I just need to get this finalised, finding it very stressful having to wait.
My brokers words were ' it could take a while for them to scan onto the system and approve'
    Oh joy

Wow that sounds a long time. Was that all because the survey picked up on something? It was our standard valuation that said ours was " on or near contaminated land"

It picked up on a couple of bits, which seemed a bit picky, had to get certain 'specialists' out to provide assurance on a few points, was then told one of them wasn't specialist enough so had to arrange another.

In between we'd sold our house and needed to provide more documents around where we were temporarily living.....

Still waiting on my offer now :( Naively thought that given the timeframe it would be a simple case of pushing it through this week!

I have been trying to get hold of my solicitor to see if they had received this letter (apparently they haven't yet), they asked me to ask Virgin to fax it over (did this at 9.30 this morning). Now trying to get hold of solicitor to find out if they have received it. She is not answering the phone, returning messages or replying to emails!!! Agggghhhhhhh!!!

I've also asked for an update on my sale which I haven't had yet.

All very frustrating - I will be happy when (if?!) I finally get the mortgage offer through!

Cleo2 - have they done your valuation?

    TheSpaniard - good luck!!!

    Good luck

Our solicitor received the letter from virgin and they want to know information from the local authority and whether the indemnity policy will cover it should the land be contaminated. Bit confused by that. Not sure who has an indemnity policy? We haven't been asked to get one. I've emailed solicitor back but obviously won't get an answer til Monday!!

I just want our mortgage offer!!!!

I've also just applied for a Virgin BTL mortgage from a Halifax residential mortgage which I have at the moment.

I approval on the phone now I need to send in 2 previous P60s (because I have been with my current employer just shy of 6 months), 2 previous payslips, copy of passport & CT bill, the DD mandate and signed agreement which they will send out to me. They will also contact my employer to make sure my employment won't cease due to still being in my probabtionary period.

If anyone wishes to give me any advice on how to make the process as trouble free as possible, I'd welcome any comments. I'll keep posting on the latest progress.

Think our application is going in today, broker confirmed he has all the paperwork he needs when I emailed him on Tuesday so I am happy to sit back for now, no rush our end!

They are all standard requirements for VM. The reference is required to ensure you are not in any form of probationary period. If you are, the P60's will be used to justify a suitable track record of employment so Virgin Money can offer you a mortgage without being concerned that you will either lose your job or walk out after a few months. The P60's show you have a reliable work history, if you are currently in probation with no guarantee of permanent employment.

To make the process with VM as smooth as possible, supply the EXACT documents requested, do not allow your broker to "just provide this or that instead", particularly when it comes to identification such as utility bills. There are very specific documents which are required for particular aspects of the application. Do not send in anything surplus to requirements.
