Ring and log it with the police.. if they have had a few thefts in the area they will increase their presence.

I never leave them in any public place unsecured.. I had one stolen from outside my house (long garden path to walk down to get it too.. ) I took the baby out and into the house went out 5 minutes later and it was gone :( It is really annoying. I'd be more upset about the special blanket too.

Sorry to hear that, there's a big trade in stealing pushchairs these days, esp the designer ones, that's awful though. Check if they have CCTV and report it to the Police too.

How annoying. Someone must have seen something, surely. Unfortunately if it's a busy place and no-one knows anybody else it would be easy for someone to just wheel it out the door without raising suspicion. Unfortunately that's the way things are in a lot of places, if it isn't locked or bolted down, you can expect it to be stolen :(

    Sorry about the blanket :(

I'm always worried about this happening. At my GP surgery you have to leave your pushchair unattended in the waiting room and carry your baby up a flight of stairs. I always keep my fingers crossed that it will still be there when I come back down...

In play areas I try to keep one eye on my child and one on the buggy, but obviously my baby is more important (!), so my attention almost always gets distracted.

I would ring the police. Even if your surgery doesn't have CCTV there may be some nearby.

I bought a pushchair lock for our new one recently (double so more expensive when you factor in the cost of the second seat and carrycot etc)... mainly as our local children's centre has an outdoor buggy park that I'm slightly unkeen to leave the buggy in unattended - it wouldn't hold off a determined thief (the one I've got is a thin metal cable retractable one), but hopefully it might make an opportunist think twice about things... loads of different types on Amazon and the like.

Agree it's a growing issue though - especially with the really high ticket brands and models - the prices of some are insane - my little brother almost had heart failure when he saw the prices of some!

Our local police would log it and put a warning out on the community websites at the least - but ours are very good in general with awareness stuff and having their faces around anywhere having problems.

  • TBH I have a City Mini and I have never thought about locking it - thinking of how much it cost though I probably should!. We took ours to Disney and left it unattended without a second thought...... Reading this though I will be buying a lock! How awful for you. I hope it turns up x

Sorry to hear about it OP, nowadays buggies cost as much as a pushbike, making them a potential target for any would be thief.

My Sons buggy cost over £200, which is why we purchased a cheap and cheerful basic buggy for £10, that we use when taking him to the surgery.

When it comes to thieves, they have no conscience or shame on what they can steal.

OP, sorry to hear about this :( However I am very grateful to you - the thought of getting a pram lock hadn't even crossed my mind. I will be getting a double in the next couple of months so its even more important.

As an aside, the Baby Jogger is one of the ones I'm looking at. If you are anywhere in the East of England let me know, as I'm spending a lot of time at the moment trying to source one and so can keep an eye out for yours if you describe it to me.
