    how frequent are the reviews?

Soolins right - the 20th. Not only that - they do not update between the 1st and the 20th - so don't be put off if they don't improve straight away.

Ebay will soon email you to warn you that you must improve. Fortunatley - you are ahead of them. You have 3 months or face suspension. Each month must improve.

Personally - i would give free p&p until its sorted. Just add it to the price. Even undercharging on postage is no good - you could get one of the people who get kicks out of trashing stars.

Postage is the best category to be low in - as you can immediately affect your stars and stop people hitting them by offering free p&p.

As soon as it goes back below 2% - free listing will be available from the next review.

I hadn't sold for a while, and my postage thing is 4.76 (2), so I am listing things with free postage

I charge £3.50 for p&p on most of my items, and send them out first class which is (was) £2.70 which left 80 for the packaging etc... I put all my garments into clear garment bags ( like you would get them from a catalogue etc) and then into a posting bag.. so I personally don't think I am over charging for p&p.

But sometimes buyers expect you to only charge the 'actual' postage cost....

Even charging face value, occasional buyers will still mark down your p&p DSR: I always charge the actual postage and though I don't have any low stars, the average is currently 4.85 so there must be a few 3s or 4s.

The only way to guarantee 5-stars for the p&p DSR is free postage. ;)

[I bought a large supply of 2nd class stamps at 36p, just before they increased to 50p, so effectively I make a roughly 40% mark-up on the face value. This being the case, I'm happy charging nothing for packing, post office queuing etc].

If you are going to charge postage then take off some of the packaging costs. Working on the current rates, £2.99 charge on a £2.70 stamp is psycholoigally better than going over the £3 mark.

80p extra is quite a bit to risk charging for a couple of bags which woudl cost less than 20p in bulk.

PS I forgot to say earlier that you can see your average over both 12 months and 3 months...

If you look at 3-months and it's a higher average than 12-months, the signs are good that you're rising.

However, if the 3-month average is lower than the overall 12-month average, it means you need to do something rather more drastic and rather more urgently: as the older ratings drop off the moving 12-month average, your average will continue to fall, so you need some new, 5-star DSR ratings to help push your average upwards.

Until I get my OBA up an running, I will be doing free p&p, and up the price of the item..

I personally think once I got my OBA up and running... then even with adding a bit on for the packaging costs, and still charge £3.50 for packets/parcels under 1kg it should keep my postage stars up ... if not I will just automatically do everything with free p&p long term...

As has been said before I also think it depends on the items. Some of my stuff sells better with postage as an additional cost, and some sells better with free postage. It must be something daft like some items buyers assume will always be free postage- who knows?

I've decided to relist some items- so I have made up a 6 inch cube box and i have a 'boot sale' box as well.

I'm checking the sizes of my items against the cube and anything that won't fit and is not very expensive I'm just putting straight out for the car boot. I don't think I am going to get many relists
