My middle son ive had to drag the quilt off him to get him out of bed which was no mean feat considering i'm only short, he was in the top bunk and would wrap his quilt around him.:D
He was hiding his work - just as well you're short! :rotfl:

    The dog.

If you weren't up by a certain time and your door was a tad ajar, she'd be sent up to come get you up, jumping on the bed, licking you, licking you more, tugging the quilt down so you had to get up or risk tug of war and a wrecked quilt.

And then I had to move the cat out of my bag, I used to have a Polo addiction and she LOVED the smell of mint, so would sleep in my bag

Yes i also send in my doggies who give just the best kisses in the morning:T:T:T

I try not to interfere but find myself clock watching if they are not up. Weekends are worse as my three eldest (22, 21 and 18) all work early shifts on Saturday/ Sunday starting at 6am. I used to (note used) to go round to my eldest son and bang on his door to wake him up if he overslept. I dont do it now though:eek:
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I call my DD (14) and say "5 mins" and then she knows when I call her again she's got to get up (or she won't have time to preen herself!!)

My son has a clock radio which I set for 6am the night before, and make sure it's set quite loud :D. I take his breakfast in to him :o, he eats it in bed and then gets up.

It is so sad the number who had duvets dragged off/water tipped on them etc... that is just horrible and leads to everyone being angry and nasty and yelling first thing in a morning... hardly condusive to a nice day for anyone.. :(

If DS1 was really not getting up I would rush in his room (at about 7:30) and say Oh my... you are really late .. it is 8:45.. you need to run... that shifted him without yelling lol. He was a PITA for getting up.. and still is!

Oh please! If the 'oh my' approach works for you and your incredibly large brood then fair play to you. The 'dragging of the duvet' approach worked for my mum on the odd occasion that it was deployed and no one had a bad start to the day at all. A bleary eyed approach maybe but no harm was done at all.

As a teen, I had the attic room and Dad installed a loud electric bell with the button in the cupboard under the stairs. I was really good at getting up on time (did a paper round for years) but somehow he rigged it to interrupt my music if I had it on too loud. Clever old Dad :)

I don't know how you wake them up, I've got two who didn't read the "how to be a proper teenager" manual and neither of them know how to stay asleep after 6/6.30 am.!

they did however figure out that you need to play music/xbox really loudly whenever you're awake, so I don't feel like I'm missing out in the parenting teenagers survival stakes:eek:

I cant believe I am about to admit this. On occassions when I would [STRIKE]ignore[/STRIKE] sleep through, my parents requests for me to get up, they used the following strategy. One or other would walk into my room, fling open the curtains and shout out excitedly "Oh my god, there is thick snow". This was guaranteed to get me out of bed immediately, as I absolutely love snow! This even worked in the Summer :o Well come on, I was still half asleep!

Truth be told this still works now if my kids want to get me up early. Thanks to my dad filling them in :D

My parents also used the hoover, pulling the duvet off and setting my alarm clock at a ridiculously high level so that I left the bed with shock. God what evil parents I have :rotfl:
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.
