It is so sad the number who had duvets dragged off/water tipped on them etc... that is just horrible and leads to everyone being angry and nasty and yelling first thing in a morning... hardly condusive to a nice day for anyone.. :(

If DS1 was really not getting up I would rush in his room (at about 7:30) and say Oh my... you are really late .. it is 8:45.. you need to run... that shifted him without yelling lol. He was a PITA for getting up.. and still is!

Mine use their phone alarms and both can get themselves up and out (15 and 20). In fact, embarrassing to say that occasionally DD has to wake me up to take her to school because I'm useless in a morning :o

I can't believe nobody else has suggested singing :D After a few renditions of queen/abba/ grease my twin boys now only need the threat of my singing at them to get them up in the morning. :p
My dd is always up early though, so no need there.

Haha that wouldn't work in our house, we all love a bit of Metallica etc unless of course I played Abba which would probably have them running screaming for the door :p
  • Not my problem. I don't have to do the resulting detentions.

Saying that (whilst not actually meaning it) worked surprisingly well for schooldays.

For weekends, more of a catching flies with honey thing - it's amazing how quickly a teenager wakes up when they know there's a bacon roll waiting for them in the kitchen (never take it to them in bed, but make sure the smell travels).
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Leave them to do it themselves and if they're late for school then force them to go in and be embarrassed by being late and kept behind after schol. They'll get the picture eventually.

My two daughters and my youngest son always got themselves up but my other two sons were a nightmare to get out of bed. My middle son ive had to drag the quilt off him to get him out of bed which was no mean feat considering i'm only short, he was in the top bunk and would wrap his quilt around him.:D

Seriously? My Mum did the cold flannel of the odd morning when she couldn't shift me, or sent the family German shepherd up to leap on the bed and steal my favourite stuffed toy (Batfink) which resulted in chaos, much laughter and me up in time for a nice breakfast :j

Don't know if that is why I am a lark now :rotfl:

I'm with the 'leave them to it' camp - if they've anything about them they'll start getting themselves up.
