O/S Daily Tuesday 26th March

Options
O/S Daily Tuesday 26th March This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well”

  • Good morning!

The snow has gone now. I don't think it's as cold as it has been. It's probably the summer.

Off to work for a full day today and then home for a dinner of HM spaghetti Bol from the freezer.

    Keep safe everyone.

Morning, blimey o'riley it's cold here! No new snow thank goodness and roads clear.
spent most of yesterday houseworking and the placve looks SO much better. Also after gym exercises my back has eased somewhat. Today I have a (free) session with a personal trainer, so hopefully will learn more exercises to help. This afternoon I am meeting a dear, dear friend who has a son similar to mine. It's so relaxing being with someone who has walked the same road and has been through similar experiences. We have quite different philosophies in some ways, but it's so good to discuss the best way to deal with things and learn from each other.
My Dad is quite poorly at the moment, and hopefuly he was calling the doc out yesterday, so will phone and find out what's going on. My dad is in his late eighties and a recovering alcoholic as well as having lived a very stressful life, so i worry a lot about him. He is a 5 hour drive away which makes it difficult as I'm torn between not wanting to be too far away from my son and needing to see my Dad. My step-mom is a complete star and takes marvelous care of him, it's not a worry that he's not being looked after, just want to be with him.
A couple of errands to run today, so may take the time to go to the charity shops to look for more books etc for my son.
Best wishes to all facing difficulties and hugs to all who want them.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Light cloud with sun now breaking through, no new snow, still very cold here this morning.

DH up and gone to work but not a stupid early start this morning,

Dinner last night was chicken, smoked bacon, and mushroom risotto - was really delicious - but DH moaned that he hadn't had enough food - the recipe I used for the risotto serves 6 - although the portions served last night weren't as generous as I had hoped - but by the time he'd had that and then a dessert and a cuppa - he'd had a decent meal. I just don't seem to be able to win with him as not above 3-4 weeks ago he was asking me to cut his portion sizes down as he felt to stuffed/bloated all the time! I again didn't get into an argument with him over it - had my meal, finished doing what I needed to do, then went off and did my own thing - I did my usual of going very quiet and he can't stand it, it really gets to him.

Yesterday work was horrendous as expected - we are just so busy continually at the moment - and we can't see it getting any better, the day just whizzed past and before we knew it it was 4.00pm. We had a queue of 6+ people standing outside waiting for when we opened the doors yesterday morning. We had a queue at reception pretty much all day with people then waiting up towards an hour and sometimes more than that to be seen for longer enquiries. We'll see what today brings!

When I got home from work last night had a telephone call from the local Police asking to speak to my DS2 regarding an incident that he had witnessed at school between a teacher and a pupil a few weeks back. He did come home that night saying that he had seen something happen but as I've had absolutely no official information from the school I thought it was something that had been sorted. I found out last night that the teacher involved has been suspended and the incident is being investigated by the Police and he may have to give a formal statement etc. I'm absolutely furious that the school a) haven't even bothered to contact the parents of the children in the class that day - the incident happened in a class room full of kids during a lesson, and b) the school have given our details to the Police and I had no prior knowledge of this. It seems yet again they are trying to sweep something under the carpet and by not saying anything official they are keeping it low key. I feel they should have just sent a letter out to the parents of the kids in the class that day simply stating that they were an incident had occurred that day in the classroom and the teacher involved has been suspended whilst investigations into the incident were taking place, but due to the nature of the incident he wouldn't be returning to the school. I don't feel that is too much to ask, is it? Or am I being stupid?

Keep safe and well, take it steady those with snow x

    Morning All

It's snowing here - probably the heaviest we've had yet, it had just started when I got up but everything has gone white now and I've only been up an hour!!

Hilstep - So sorry to hear you're having a bad time at the moment, hope things improve for you very soon.
Headlight - Did you lose the doctor's number?!

Last night for tea we had lo mash with cabbage and onion mixed in, green beans and the veggie sauce left from sunday's lamb. Very tasty too. I love using up left overs and seeing what we get!

Hugs to everyone, take care. XX
